Power on sequence on the schematic
Mel Farrer
Hello,
Since they are sending my dead unit back, I will try and diagnose the sequence path of turn on.? I tried to manually key the main relay and that worked, but still no turn on.? So there has to be a sequence failure.? ? Looking at the schematic, there are way too many paths to trace out without knowing the correct path.? I have no problem with doing what ever is necessary to have the radio on all of the time power is applied, so looking for help on that.? There is nothing in the service manual for trouble shooting a no turn on problem. Mel, K6KBE |

Re: No turn on
Mel Farrer
Well finally sent the radio in for repair and got the estimate $871 plus shipping.? NO WAY.? They don't trouble shoot to the component level just replace boards.? I would like to know the sequence of the turn on in the radio, but the schematic is not easy to follow.? Just force keying up the main relay does not turn it on.? Sounds like a winter task.

Re: FT-875D noice floor
In addition to the capital above the frequency, there will be a triangle/arrow icon next to the IPO option (bottom row of the display).? Note that the IPO option is in the Multi Function "m" (MFm) area.? You access the Multi Function area by momentarily pressing the FUNC button and rotating the SELECT knob.
For detailed information about the IPO see Page 45 of the manual.? Also check Page 31 and Page 33 for additional information. 73, K0LEJ |

My 857D has a big noice level on f. ex. 80 mts. Compared to my ft-2000 and ft-950 is is a lot.
To compare like this is not fair, but I hope that there is a way to get rid of lot of that noice. When the other radios read S3 the 857 reads 7 (taken in account the S-meter inaccuacy). I am open for any ideas and suggestions. Thanks guys... LA6YJA... |

Re: HAM RADIO DELUX AND FT857D
Thanks Phil I will leave it as it is with HRD. Till now no damage?done to the rig. Further I dont want to get in trouble Thank You and 73s VU2TE Unni On Wed, Dec 11, 2019 at 11:03 PM Philip Salley <pcsalley@...> wrote: For a time CHIRP was writing to the same 857D eprom area that eventually rendered some radios to brick status.? Re: HAM RADIO DELUX AND FT857D
Which features did HRD implement with a slider? I know things like the noise blanker cause EEPROM writes so dragging a slider would definitely hammer specific cells in the memory chip. Thanks, Joe W6JHP On Wed, Dec 11, 2019 at 12:35 AM Easwaran Unni Tharakkal VU2TE <unnitharakkal@...> wrote:

Update:? I live close to the Yaesu facility in Cerritos CA.? I met with Yaesu techs Tim and Peter and went over this with them.? They are as baffled as we are and have taken on the task of resolving this.? James, I recommend you call Yaesu Cerritos and speak with Tim about this while they are fresh on this.

Re: HAM RADIO DELUX AND FT857D
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Unni, ? I think that this may have been removed because it can cause a problem after some time of usage. Possibly after a year or more, depending on how much you use it. ? I believe that the problem is that it continuously writes to some register/memory and eventually it wears out the memory effectively killing the radio. ? Personally, I would much prefer to retain my radio in good condition rather than killing it prematurely. ? 73¡.Eric VK2VE ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Easwaran Unni Tharakkal VU2TE - unnitharakkal at gmail.com ? Dear? Tobias ? Thank you for the reply. HRD replied that this facility from 6.3 updates are removed due to a tech. complaint from Yeasu So hope till they correct it I have to see some other way ? 73s GL Unni VU2TE ? Re: VOX Comes On When Powering Up
I have the exact same issue with mine. Been doing that for a long time. Doing a master reset does not help. I also noticed that a few other menu options will change slightly. For example, FM mic gain will change from 50 to 51. Lock mode will change from dial to all. Other than that, radio works fine. Yaesu support cannot help other than to send it in for repair.
