Adding an AT-140 Antenna System to a 2018 Honda CR-V
Not sure where I could mount this antenna.? None of the antennas I currently have will work with this vehicle.? I don't want to use a mag-mount antenna.? Through the glass antennas on the side windows of the cargo area are also out, due to the metallic nature of the factory window tint, and the rear window has both the defogger and the AM/FM antenna embedded in the glass. Thanks, Joe/KC6NLX |
Re: Yaesu TCXO-9
Incorrect. 897d included it. 857d didn't.

Paul,?
Thanks for the advice. It sounds easy enough to swap out. Tracking shows it will be delivered on Monday, so I guess I will find out then. As for linears, I do not use them at all anymore. I played around with a 1500?back when I lived in NE Arkansas in the mid 1980's when I was younger on some "add on" CB frequencies and I ended up getting a visit from a couple?of representatives of the US Air Force and a couple of really friendly types from the FCC. Apparently, someone at Blytheville Air Force Base did not appreciate me on those frequencies using that much power with my Moonraker beams pointed right at them, lol. They loved my station so much they took it all with them, lol. Since then, I have never touched another one. RC WH6FQE |

Re: Yaesu TCXO-9
I fitted the Yaesu TCXO-9. The fitting was easy, it just plugs in. You have to unplug the old unit and replace it with the new unit. Be careful to plug it in the correct way round. You must remove all power while fitting this unit. While the radio has the lid open, take a look at the option places for two extra filters. I fitted a 2.7 KHz and a 300 Hertz filter at the same time. The frequency seems spot on with me. Note the power output on VHF and UHF can be turned down in the menus. This is advantageous for some linear amplifiers add on that require lower drive power. You can turn up the power, but the risk of overheating the PA stage, this becomes untolerable especially on the FM mode or data. The PTT line is available in one of the rear sockets to put the add on linear into transmit. Paul G4IJL |

I didn't see the photo you mentioned.?
I finally decided to try 2-meter SSB last night for the first time. I have had the 857D for almost a year and a half, but never realized it could do SSB on VHF. I did notice the frequency was a tad off from where it was supposed to be, so someone suggested I install a TCXO-9.?I ordered a Yaesu TCXO-9 from DX Engineering today, and am hoping that it is an easy install and will actually be worth the $110 plus shipping I paid for it. Have you had positive results with yours? RC WH6FQE |

Replaced filters - TX / Busy Light.
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI replaced the IF filters in my 857. The TX Busy light used to flicked yellow when setting mode to CW and receiving CW, now it shows constant green. ? I can do with some advice on what normal behavior is please. ?I don¡¯t dabble into CW quite often and might be missing something. Also the back light color settings used to be different, which I don¡¯t know if it has on the LED color at least. ? Thinking of it, it may even be that AGC and noise could cause it to remain on. I have to check. ? I hope that the filter replacements did not cause any problems. ? Thanks Marius zr6p |
Re: Remote Mike
Here are the pages for the MH59A8J Remote Microphone.I have never seen the back light on my keypad any other color than orange.?(With the exception of the light beside the AF/Sel/Dial button. That is explained in the pages attached.

The red background light on the mic buttons is normal. Was it not red before? I know some microphones have a light switch to turn it on or off, such as the MH-48A6J. But I believe the MH-59A8J doesn't have the ability to turn the backlight off. Have you programmed any of the mic buttons?
