I wouldn¡¯t think the 25 watts out in battery mode would be much to worry about on 40m through 10 meters, no one else in the park would go near me during my live reports of the solar eclipse! --

I was running backpack portable with my 857d and I think my antenna may have been too closely coupled to my cw key. ?Anyway, the cw key no longer works, and the Keyer mode will only send dashes. ?I

Just had this same issue with my 857 on 40m.? Dummy load test excluded any issue with the radio and feed line.? The issue was a bad connection on a wire antenna. It's great to have access to these

Thee ATU-100 does not dissipate much heat. Also keep in mind Yaesu had an optional swotching power supply that would mount in that space and dissipate much more heat than the tuner. Mike N2MS
