Re: FT857 pc programming issue

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Checked all of that...software is independent of baud rate...tried 3 different cabled.

I think it is the smd f1001 fuse
Just found some info on this and remember this issue years ago
Thanks
Jack

1. Baud rate of radio....as in the SW expects one Baud rate and you have another on the radio?
2. older programming cable. I had this happen recently.
3. What software are you using...this can also change what might be causing the issue.

I figured it out.? Had it on split frequency?

Switches bands when I PTT

Not sure what function or what button I clicked but when I PTT the band switches.? How do I stop this from happening?

Re: molex power connection question

Each connector in the molex connector is only rated for 15a so to make the 20a requirement of the 857 yausu paralleled the connections. On low continuous current modes like SSB you should be fine. High continuous current modes like digital modes could melt the connector.

Re: molex power connection question

One issue with the "Molex" connector is that is is not a Molex connector. It is a Japan Standard 6 pin power plug and there is a difference in the sizes of the connecting pins. This is one reason people have problems with these plugs so often. That and time and wear and tear takes? their toll.
I have made adapters to replace the 6 pin radio side with Anderson Power Poles and that would be a good answer if someone would step up to produce them.?
I have seen numerous instances of low power due to bad connections and voltage drop under load.?
Basically a pretty Mickey Mouse application of a small diameter pin and socket that easily loses tension with heating and removal and reconnections.
If you replace the pins look for the correct pins and not the "Close enough" Molex pins and sockets.

Re: molex power connection question

i use power pole connectors
based on what you said¡i think the short answer is the oem connectors double the connections
for backup.

Re: molex power connection question

If you are referring to common molex used to power hard drives ... you are pushing it.
Over the years there have been issues with "standard? " Yaesu power connector - not making sufficient contact
The results are noticeable - intermittent RF power output , and the connector gets? warm...
You can sometime see it on build-in source meter...

Re: molex power connection question

"Molex" connectors were originally used for connection of equipment such as low-voltage DC connections like rack power supplies, which would normally plug and unplug only when the unit needed to be replaced (repair).?

If? your857 is permanently left in the shack that should not be a problem but if you are going to be used at home and taken out to your car for mobile applications and/or portable use you will eventually have damaged contacts.

"Emergency Organisations" like Raynet in UK, and the equivalent in other countries recommend "Power Pole" connectors as a standard which means that equipment can be swapped easily between applications (different radios, different locations etc) and have several other properties that make them ideal for us and also have almost unlimited plug/unplug lives.? All of my equipment uses PowerPoles and I cut my 12v leads on my 857 with an adapter with about 12 inches of wire from the Molex to a PowerPole, which can then be plugged into my shack supply or to a lead from my car battery -- or even into the car (or shack) of another Raynet member.

?. . . but set up your adapter, plug it into the 857 before it starts giving problems !

Also try adding a random length of coax to your feedline (10-15 ft.). Also try looping the end of the feedline around a toriod core...? ?And don't forget the microphone cable..? I've solved RF issues by wrapping the end of the cable around a toroid...?

Re: 857D-HRD disconnection on 40 mts #cat

Try a ground wire between the computer and the radios. I had a problem until I tied them together and the radios to ground.

Re: 857D-HRD disconnection on 40 mts #cat

Thank you Barron

But I am using it. Almost all the cable (Data and Power) is using looped beads?or single?beads. Still it is troubling.
Any will carry on investigating. Hope can be done with it.

If you have one that you can make several loops through it increases the RF impeadance on the square, so make more than one turn if you can.

857D-HRD disconnection on 40 mts #cat

Hai all

When I tune my 857 and with my LDG 1000 pro-II, ant. tuner on 40 mts (Only 40 mts) the software gets disconnected. The dig. interface used is Link-5 (BY make) with CH340 driver. I feel may be some RF leak, but could not find it find out.. Request suggessision. Ant used is a Di-Pole with 600 ohms ladder line (home brewed) fed to TX through a 6;1 and 1:1 UNUN. The ant when used with the tuner gives a godd (less than 1.3) SWR on all bands.

Thanking in advance

Thanks for the additional info.

You're right, another reset may restore the RMT option (along with others that might be missing). ?Be sure you and the rig are at the same potential -- touch something metal before doing the reset.

By the way, what prompted the factory reset in the first place?

I'm thinking that I should try to reset yet again.
I find no other cases out there where anyone has reported this issue.
