Hello We recently came across a collection of Military Manuals for test equipment, earliest date is 1946, latest is the late 50's. About 10 original military manuals in all. Various types: A couple of oscilloscopes, analog meters, etc... All are OEM military manuals in pretty good shape. Will make very fine copies.. Question: We would like to make copies available to people who are looking for this sort of manual, Is there a IO group that specializes in these 40's and 50's military test equipment things ? I bought this Viking Challenger kit about 5 years ago. The top flap had been torn off but it looks like the contentsd have never been taken out. It's packed so tighlty I doubt I could remove everything for a contents display and be able to repack it same way.. I would enjoy going through the assembly but I have a Viking 500 that will keep me busy for quite some time plus I have several home-brew projects that need to get finished. I paid $475 for it and I'm not trying to make any money. If there is a serious buyer I would take the risk of videoing my taking the contents out of the box. Purchased a Viking Ranger (I) that someone flipped upside down and crushed the Tank Coil. While I have repaired it as best I can, the tuning for 20 and 15 meters is difficult and 10 meter tuning impossible. Anyone have a Ranger I Tank Coil for sale? 73, Mike KW9I

I used to have a copy of the specs and user guide of the Transcrypt Transpeater III but I no longer have it. We used them in the fire service back in the day. Does anyone have an idea where I might be able to find some information on this particular piece of equipment? I spend hours on archive.org and there is some old archives of the websites but no product. I'm searching for anything relating to it, anywhere from an electronics diagram to the piece of equipment itself.

Hello One of my guys wanted me to post this tekkie note concerning the Johnson Valiant I & II, modulation transformer wiring issues. What we found in our rebuilds of Johnson Valiant I&II was , often, the terminal strip material which supports the primary and secondary wiring leads from the modulation transformer has carbonized ( most likely from heat), the terminal strip insulating material between the terminals becomes conductive and the modulation transformer goes up in smoke. What WE did was to create a custom double spaced terminal strip, using parts from those really nice strips that are used in Johnson radios. The double spacing reduces the chances of inter-terminal carbonizing, current flow and subsequent modulation transformer meltdown. We checked, carefully, the material ( phenolic ?) to ensure there were no signs of carbonizing before creating the double spaced strip. Our $02 worth.
