A Viking II is a good solid built transmitter.? I'm working on restoring one right now.? A guy gave it to me free but it was missing a lot of tubes plus the cabinet was not in too good of shape.? The front panel had a toggle switch in the upper right hand corner controlling power output.? The transmitter was a high school transmitter somewhere.? I plugged the hole with Bondo and epoxy.? I had paint mixed for the cabinet and front panel.? Plan to airbrush the front panel and spray the cabinet.? The outcome should make the transmitter look great again.? In the mean time I am replacing out of tolerance parts and suspected parts.? Once finished it should perform as new.? I wanted to make this almost parts rig shine again.? The NC-300 will go well with your Viking II.? They are built like a tank and are known for their great sensitivity.? Drift is low and stability great.? Mt friend WA5VGO loves his Viking 500.? He thinks it is the best all around fairly high power AM rig out there.? That got me going wanting to refurbish my nice looking 500. ? Keep us posted on getting your pair on the air.

Welcome, Leland. I would love to find a 500 and matching power supply for my shack. I just picked up a Viking II at Xenia along with a National NC-300. Both are in very nice condition!

I have not made my way to Collins gear yet as it is always so expensive. Maybe one day, but not now.
