Re: new member

Brian,

Sorry about the slow message approval. I am the only moderator right
now (you're welcome to help if you contact me off-list) and had a busy
day AFTER work yesterday, including about an hour and a half of
driving, so I came home and went to bed shortly after getting home.

Welcome to the group. I hope it grows. I've seen a few join the group
then leave almost immediately because there's not much here yet. It
will stay that way if everyone does that. If it doesn't gradually
grow, I can re=purpose the group for something else by renaming it
after making an announcement. It would probably be for some other ham
radio group. But I wont' hastily do that. My Icom group took about a
year or more to gain traction and now it's useful and growing.

I can't find the email address but there is an email reflector group
for EF Johnson radios.

I picked up a Ranger for $40 at Hamvention two years ago. I haven't
done anything with it except to slowly power it up using a variac to
bring the voltage up gradually. It didn't explode and there was no
smoke, so it passed the first test, but I believe I'll be re-capping
it and going through it to see where any trouble lies. If I don't get
to it before then, I'll work on it after I retire in 2-3 years.

Well, as noted there are basically no messages...yet.
Hopefully there will be some people who wander in.
I am here in large part due to my interest in watching Terry's videos at D Labs Electronics (YouTube and his YT page video archive).
Interesting stuff Terry has done on the Rangers and Valiants and Viking II rigs, amongst other stuff.

Anyhow, hope to see some exchanges on this Group.
