Grizzly Mill DRO Question

any of you folks have one of these Mills , their sold buy all the usual suspects . Mine was originally sold by KBC tools lin the 80's or 90's I was told by the original buyers family . https://www.grizzly.com/products/grizzly-8-x-30-1-1-2-hp-vertical-mill-with-power-feed/g0731?gad_source=1& gclid=Cj0KCQiA3uGqBhDdARIsAFeJ5r1mMqXY7Zk9br2zA8mAP0Wjrc-a8bLVekjt8w3n-tcupz8j6lkcCc8aAhkhEALw_wcB https://www.grizzly.com/products/grizzly-8-x-30-1-1-2-hp-variable-speed-vertical-mill/g0678?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA3uGqBhDdARIsAFeJ5r1y8Y8g5_cFnO71rqhwqSpEllc2ow35nlGJv6y6qwYAxWY1MWSCXeUaAmKTEALw_wcB I'm looking to see if anyone has put a DRO on one of these mills listed above & what length scales they got with the DRO thanks animal

WTS Harbor Freight Mini Mill and Mini Lathe Atlanta GA $125 each includes tooling
2
I have had both of these for about 20 years. Both have been rode hard but are working. The mill has the long table. Mill includes R8 spindle collets, hold down set and a bunch of mills. The lathe includes steady rest and a bunch of tools. I am moving and too old to transport this across country and havent used them in a couple years. Easly worth the price of the included tooling. NO SHIPPING LOCAL PICKUP ONLY zip 30039 Pictures when I get around to it

Choice of vise
2
I use a 3 inch "screwless" vise on my mini-mill (see picture). It is always a struggle to get the nut at the bottom to catch so the jaws can be tightened. This is especially true when the vise is clamped down so the bottom is not easily accessible. A second problem is that the jaws are so smooth. This is of course desirable in most situations. However, right now I am trying to mill a complex shape in a piece of delrin, which is very slick and somewhat flexible. The smooth jaws just don't grip firmly, and the workpiecs pops out. I may have to drill and tap the delrin and bolt it onto a metal base. Anyway, this gives me an excuse to look for another vise that is easier to work with, about 3 to 4 inches wide. Ideally it would have interchangeable jaws included serrated ones that can grip the delrin. Any recommendations? -Erik

Parts Question
Our club has aquired a Menards mill-drill, model KDS-25-4559. The Longitudinal nut for the table is stripped. The only replacement parts I have found are for a similar Grizzly G0760. However, Grizzly does not have any drawings or dimension data available. Has anyone either used Grizzly parts or know where to get them. I used to operate an Enco machine at work which was similar. Thanks in advance, Steve

Thread size for clamp kit
17
I have a HF mini-mill with the usual 7/16 slots, and a matching clamp kit. The studs that came with the kit are supposedly 3/8-16, and they work with the supplied nuts. However, to mount my angle plate on the table I need shorter bolts, with heads. When I try standard 3/8 bolts from other sources, the threads don't match exactly. A bolt gets stuck after going half way through a nut. Has anyone else had this problem? Do I need to get bolts manufactured to a special standard? Thanks in advance for any comments.

WTB: Mini Mill (Philadelphia/East Coast, US)
3
Hello - I am looking to buy a mini mill, something along the lines of a Harbor Freight/Central Machinery, Sieg, Grizzly, Taig, etc. My intent is to finally convert it to CNC. Hence, if anyone has a project mill that is in the process of being converted to CNC, or one that has already been converted to CNC, those would work as well. If my post violates any forum rules, please let me know and I will take it down right away. Thanks.

[Milling] Numobams

Both of those machines look like pretty stout units , I was surprised when I saw what the distance between canters was on the lathe . So I see on their site that they are brewing their own clone of a Multi-Fix tool holder . Those are a option when you buy the lathe ? animal

Numobams
As we're getting settled into the new house we finally ordered a new mill. As a refresher, we closed our business after 39 years and sold our house in 2021 and were hanging out with friends until we were allowed to travel. We arrived at our new home in August of 2022 and it's been hectic to say the least. Anyway, the new home has a nice shop attached that's HEATED and also has a skylight and windows for summer air. Also has 380V 3 phase power. We've started teaching kids through adults about CAD and 3D printing. Next will be laser engraving/cutting, CNC milling, general machine shop, etc. We also incorporated here as an OOO (LLC), no easy task for former Americans during the time of sanctions. So, we'll be back to selling stuff in 2022 as soon as all the paperwork settles down. So, the new mill? We were going to get a Zx50C but decided instead on this one with all the options. The new mill was custom assembled and is ready to ship, they even sent pictures of it. https://numobams.com/products/numobams-zay7045fgs-15kw2hp-industrial-milling-machine Also ordered a new lathe, although that has nothing to do with this group. The lathe is in shipping, it got misrouted just before getting here, but it should be here "soon". https://numobams.com/products/numobams-wm210l-850w-brushless-motor-mt5-spindle-800mm-working-length-with-125mm-chuck-mini-metal-lathe-machine-396 Time to start welding up stands for the horizontal bandsaw and lathe, I also have to modify a pulley for the 3 phase motor that was given to me for the saw. I hope all have a good year, we'll try to not cause too much trouble. Jerry & Sharon -- www.DurandInterstellar.com www.DurandInterstellar.ru WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, VK Goryachiy Klyuch, Russia

Mini Mill Harborfrieght
6
I have a Harborfrieght Mini Mill and I noticed that the motor and spindle were hot to touch after 25-30 minutes of use in this current warmer summer temperature. My question is, is this a concern? Should I be worried, can it get over heated or is it just normal use? I hope this isn't an extremely dumb question but I just don't want to inadvertently burn out the motor or melt wires. Thank you in advance!

Files section uploads
2
Hello everyone. Somehow the files section was restricted to owners / moderators. I thought I had changed that. :( Not much point in a files section if we cant share files. So I changed it to allow members to upload files. The usual restrictions apply. Dont post non mill / metalworking things. you know politics, religion and adult (other than metalworking) entertainment. I am sure we get more than enough of that elsewhere. If not just sign up for one of the "anti social" platforms... :( And please no content that you do not have permission to upload. Chris (CB) group owner.
