A 1/2" shank is about as big as you need on smaller mills. You may be able to use a 5/8 endmill with a 1/2" shank. I have a couple in my stash, but not sure the smaller mills can drive them adequately.? Bill in OKC William R. Meyers, MSgt, USAF(Ret.) Aphorisms to live by: Good judgement comes from experience. You can probably find MT2 endmill holders for

I also have a drill chuck for it and use that when I have to change bits a lot, like center finder to drill to countersink...The mill itself has an MT-4 spindle. Funny thing, the drill chuck and ER-32 chuck use different diameter drawbars.? Not a big problem, just odd to have two. On 05-Apr-25 22:34, mike allen wrote:

Re: Central Machinery micro mill model 47158
Problem solved.
It is like a bigger mill, unscrewed the draw bar a little and hit it with a piece of aluminum and hammer. It came loose. It is a #2 Morse with a threaded hole of 10X1.5 MM. the other end had a chuck on it at one time. The mill is an older Harbor Fright model. I got it at an estate sale for $125 and came with two chucks with it. I can take one of them off and put on the shank. Now to find threaded shanks for end mills.
Thanks to everyone.

Re: Central Machinery micro mill model 47158
The manual on the internet archive lists the spindle as #2 morse.? Looks like there is a drawbar, item 77 in the exploded view. H Gilbert On Thu, Apr 3, 2025 at 2:06?PM sapark123321 via <sapark123321=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Central Machinery micro mill model 47158
I couldn't find that model number on the Harbor Freight web site - what is that machine?
?
If it's a mill or "mill-drill", you may have received a wedge-shaped chunk of steel with the other accessories.? After loosening the drawbar, you can insert this through a slot in the side of the extended quill, where it should traverse just above the top end of the Morse taper of the chuck or collet.? Tapping it gently will dislodge the chuck/collet from the quill - make sure you're ready to catch it when it falls.
