Re: Daniel Y DNA Project at Family Tree DNA

I know I have checked the project web page intermittently for years and it always seems inactive. Even today, the FamilyTreeDNA site says "Results pages are not currently enabled. Contact the group administrator for additional information.” if you try to access results there, and the??website is generally non-functional. None of the home page hyperlinks go anywhere. Will we actually see a functional means of working with Daniel Y-DNA in the future?

My question is, has anyone been experiencing issues with updates to the Results page of the project web site, response to queries to me or my co-manager, or issues, in general with the project? I am trying to figure out how long this has been going on and? make sure I am fixing the problem.

Charlie Rathbun? Do you descend from Josiah Daniel of Granville Co., North Carolina? He was born in Albemarle Co and moved with his brother Chesley/Chisley to Granville Co. Chisley owned Tranquility Plantation of Granville. My line is from John Daniel, youngest brother of Chisley and Josiah. Jack Le Chien

Hi Georgia! if you look in the upper right corner of the screen, you should see your name. Click on that and select Settings. The option to change your email address should be the first field at the top of that page. Let me know if you have any problems.

Thanks for responding, Charlie! Activity on the groups.io Daniel discussion list has been very low for quite some time. One reason the apparent lack of activity on the Family Tree DNA site didn't throw up any red flags.....

James' kit# is 342705. He joined in 2014 and last signed in in July 2023, so is hopefully still with us. Have you tried to email him?

With regard to the ancestry back to Robert D'Anyers, this unsupported assignment is made in the genealogy for multiple unrelated Daniel lines. It has been a popular assignment for compilers for decades. As far as I am aware, no one can prove descent from this man using primary records.

Yes this line is R1b/M269. My favorite tool for freely tracing the ancestry of terminal SNPs is
but it has gone haywire with what is probably gyrations to adhere to European Union privacy regulations. I could not get it to work at all with FireFox, but did finally choke a result out using Chromium. YMMV.

Let me know if you need assistance.
