Terry you will need a Dalton made steady rest. I know of no other lathe that has a 7 1/4 inch swing or any that has a bed width that would match a Dalton. SB is quite a bit bigger. I need to look

Terry, I don't see a problem with what you want to do. It would be even better if your lathe had a 36 inch bed but guessing yours is a 30 inch. Holding the cam at one in with the chuck and supporting

Dennis would a steady rest work what I have in mind removing the tailstock or could I do damage to the B-4 lathe ? The total overall length of the Cam is 18" end to end.
