Spindle nose thread protector

Hi guys.? Sorry been off line for so long.? I have a new email address and now can read as well as post to the Dalton sight.? I see questions about thread protectors.? I still have a large quantity of spindle nose thread protectors I made up some years ago. These are for the 1 1/4- 12 spindle on the Lot 2 3 4 and 5 lathes as well as the Dalton TL that has the same spindle nose.? These TL models are kind of rare as they were marketed as electrical shop lathes and as such had the 1 1/4 - 12 spindle rather than the more common 1 1/2 - 8 we usually see on the TL pattern makers lathe.? $15 and shipping if interested.? The picture shows an original Dalton thread protector and the ones I made are exact copies though made of Aluminum and black anodized were as the originals were cast iron.? The second picture shows an original and also one I made.? ?You can email me at dennisturk448@...???

Daron Websters Dalton Six

Take a look at the photos Daron

Daron Websters Dalton Six photos

Take a look at the photos Daron posted in our photos section yesterday. Photo # 5600 shows the compound tool post mount at what appears to be a 30° rotation from the cross feed? ways, in the casting itself. Are these common in the Dalton Six?? Just curious, as I'd not seen this before. He told me that it appears to be a factory unit.

Dennis? Glen? Have you guys seen these??

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Terry.? I bought several of these couplers online a few years ago. They fit my Dalton spindle.? I don't recall what I had in mind for them, as I have an original spindle protector somewhere. Anyway, I found them by searching for couplers with the relevant thread specification.? I think they are a standard item for the forks of custom motorcycle builds.? Let me know if you can't find them and I will try to retrace my steps, though it was a while ago.

Received one of Dennis' spindle nose protectors.? It's currently the nicest part of my Dalton.?

Thanks for making them available, Dennis.

I noticed the ID has stepped threads with the smaller set fitting my spindle.? Is this so it fits the Lots 3-5 with the smaller threads and the lot 6 with the larger or is there another reason ?

Anyhow, some before and after pics...
