Check your email addresses
Fellow Classmates, There are changes coming to bulk email that hopefully minimize future spam email. In looking into those changes, I noticed that a few of you have email addresses that are bouncing. This means you are not getting emails that other class members are sending via our Dalton59 group site. If I read the directions correctly, only you can change your email address on the Dalton59 groups-io site. It says to log into the address below, follow the instructions and make the change. You should see a listing of your primary email address along with any backup addresses you may have listed. Please check to be sure your address(s) are correct. https://myaccount.google.com/email Thanks, Paul Sturpe

Dalton59 Group Moved to groups.io
Our Dalton59 group has been hosted by Yahoo.com. In the past year or so the Yahoo groups host has become somewhat unresponsive. A lot of groups that were previously hosted by Yahoo have moved to groups.io as this host offers a number of advantages. Therefore effective immediately (April 15, 2019) the group has been transferred to groups.io. If your email listing on the former group is correct you should have received an invitation to join the new group. If you have any questions about the process please email me directly at my personal email address, sturpe@... I am starting the process of updating the membership list. This will take some time and I may be asking for your help in locating and updating the information for some of our classmates. Thank you in advance. Paul Sturpe

Hello: class of 59...I have been tossing this idea around to others for the past several years. Most classes join together after fifty years and I like the idea. Recently we have been invited to entertain the idea of gathering with the class of 1960. Below is the invitation. Let me know your opinion and if you would like to join them. I'm not up to date on addresses but will send to the email class if 59 also. Please share info on anyone you have contact with. Thanks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From the class of 1960 to me: Regarding our reunion: our 60th anniversary is coming up and we tossed around how to pull your class in with ours. Can you get 3 of local classmates to work with us on having a fun evening together? This is what we have come up with. To be held on the second Sat in June 2020 That is the date Dalton Historical Society has their Strawberry Festival held at the park . Have a catered luncheon Sat at 1:00 PM visiting and touring the Historical home and enjoy the music and friends who come to the Festival. That starts at 4:00. We could have something else on Sunday but not sure where or what. We are going to get together again in Oct to draw up a letter to send out to get other ideas from the classmates. What do you think about the idea and what and who can help from your class. The 4 from our class is Cathy Douglas Elsworth, Sherry Reinerts Woods , Arden Shisler and myself Get back with me when you can. Camille Olsen Patricia Lee

I have no idea who this will reach but have been thinking about how blessed we are to still be alive in such exciting times. Would love to get a conversation going here. So I'll start.. We are still in Blue Ridge Georgia. First year we did not go to Florida for the winter. Very long dismal dreary days here. We are well but easily bored as not as much to do in winter months. Had a beautiful snow early December. Enjoy cooking and entertaining. Still doing flea market selling in spring summer and fall. Our little town has been discovered so traffic is becoming annoying. It why we moved here to get away from. Enjoying life and glad to have good health?. Who do you see on Facebook or keep in touch with? Hopefully we can update our classmate list of addresses etc. Hope to hear from y'all... Patricia Lee

It's Christmas Once More! 2014
Hi Everybody: Linda Fahrney Freeland here in Allen, Tx. wishing all my 1959 classmates and their families a very MERRY CHRISTMAS ! AND A HAPPY 2015! Yes, I say "Merry Christmas" very radically - no political correctness here! It's Christmas Eve and I have been out to eat with my daughter, Val, and then over to my Sister, Cheryl's home in Carrollton, Tx. and visited with her son, Kurt and family who are visiting from Idaho. I had a nice evening. This is one of the few Dec. 24th's that I didn't have too much to do. I did decide to make homemade rolls from my Grandma Smith's recipe and now I'm babysitting that dough. I think I have it to a point I can leave it overnight. I hope so! I had a wonderful December with 8 Christmas gigS - 6 are over and have one Dec. 26th and Dec 31st - just a nice mix with have enough to do and plenty of time to get Christmas stuff done. (Several of them were "The Fabulous Fifties- which combines very well with classic Christmas songs that were released in the 1950's-which are many! This is the first year in 40 some years that I will not be with my son, Steve, nor his family. They all went with my daughter-in-laws' parents to Mexico to some deluxe Hacienda with cooks and servants to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. That includes my daughter-in-law and 2 grandsons - only grandchildren I have. So while I will miss them dearly tomorrow, I will concentrate on my two daughters and son-in-law with me and on the most important child on Christmas - the Christ child! Warmest regards to ALL OF YOU.

Vinyl records are coming back (no kidding)/houseconcerts
Would you believe that vinyl records now cost more than cd's? We are regular attendees of house concerts in Boerne at the Fiesta RV Park. Check out the website www.hillcountryhouseconcerts.com . We have seen some really good entertainers there. Of course they sell their cd's for $15 and vinyls for $20 to $25. I guess the cost of plastic has increased over the years. Check the areas where you live to see if there are any house concerts. The concept is live entertainment normally in a person's residence. We start with a potluck (think church supper bland stuff that all looks alike and is mostly the same color). I always bring hot peppers or hot sauce or crushed red peppers to slam all over the lookalike stuff on my plate to get some flavor into the food. After the potluck, let the entertainment begin. Normally 2 sets of music with an intermission of decadent desserts--cookies, cakes, sometimes pies, etc. The admission (must be called a recommended donation because of ASCAP/BMI rules) is normally $15 to $20 for each person. Crowds range from 30-80 persons. If you like live music, this concept is the best I have seen. Nobody is allowed to talk while the singer is singing. You can really hear the music without some loudmouth goofball chattermouth interfering!! Glad to see that some of you still are using the group postings. Have a relatively ok mundane nondescript boring monotonous dull day. Respectfully, Master Weaselmeister, Esq. IV

Christmas 2014 6
Merry Christmas! We still say Merry Christmas--not Happy Holidays, etc. Just checking to see which of you'ns are still using the dalton59 yahoo group.. It has been such a long time that I have looked at the dalton59 postings that I forgot my password and went through a grueling process with Yahoo to prove that I am part of the group. Everything has changed on Yahoo. I must be a retard because it takes me forever to figure out how to use the Yahoo group stuff. I have been in a retro mood recently. I am listening to Christmas music vinyl lp's on my turntable. Anyone remember what a turntable is? Ah... I know that I am listening to records because of all the hisses, pop, crackles, and scratches in stereo. Whoopee. Next I will listen to Christmas music on my vast library of cassette tapes. I record every Christmas from radio (or Sirius satellite radio) and it is interesting to listen to Christmas music (circa 1987) and hear the commercials from those days. Most of the advertisers are long gone. Mostly car dealers and other crap. Have a relatively OK Christmas. John (aka Weaselmeister)
