Opening the door from the burial chamber back to the corridor, you notice the pungent odor of burnt hair. Crossing the hall to the short door, the Half-Orc opens it and the burning smell gets stronger. No smoke or

Re: DaleOfShadows: Maztica, 13 Eleasis
"Hmmm..." he ponders about the object. He pauses for a moment, then he licks the pyramid... His eyes narrow as he tests the taste - "Potato?" he thinks to himself.
Divination magic creeps him out... "Nasty divination wizards," he hisses "reminds me of? old dirty Warlocks." he shivers.
Convinced this is a tool for communication, he wraps and covers it tightly back into his bag. He's somewhat eager to rid himself and his party of this strange item.
As he begins to rest again, he can't get the image of another world floating above the Tree of Life out of his head.
"That tree is supposed to contain all the worlds... What is that other one doing above it?" he rests uneasy for the remainder of their time. On Mon, May 6, 2024 at 1:02?PM Sweet William/Arthur Picard via <artamy1= [email protected]> wrote:

North digs through his pouch and notices the strange crystalline pyramid he¡¯d stolen from the Captain of the Guard back in the desert.

It¡¯s beautiful, almost mesmerizing, to look upon. One moment it appears to be solid black obsidian and the next, a bit of torchlight catches it and reflects back the whole of an extraplane.?
One moment crystal clear and the next it contains the image of the tree of life Yggdrasill and an entire other world swirling and spinning above.?
For an instant, it appears as solid chrome, shiny and reflective, but the next it¡¯s filled with heatless fire and molten gold.
The object gives off no apparent magical aura, but the Gnome isn¡¯t deceived by that happenstance. The item is obviously magical in nature but just what magic it contains is stubbornly obscured.?
It is neither cool nor warm to the touch. It is perfectly smooth with impeccable razor edges that somehow do not cut the skin. The corner points neither soften nor pierce flesh when pressed firmly. Even its weight seems inconsistent, imperceptibly
fluctuating from about a pound to near weightlessness.
Something about it tells the Sorcerer that it would take impressively high levels of divination magic to gather detailed information about it.
Then he¡¯s distracted by the aroma of the hot fresh baked potato in his hands, all steamy and split open and dripping with melty butter.
Then he wakes up, still clutching the shiny pyramid object.
About an hour has passed.
Nothing has tried to enter the room. All is quiet.
And what do you do?

Can he inspect this item while they rest. The gnome dreams deeply of baked taters. His stomach growls.
So they were sleeping in the corpse room? Tabby will not be happy, but she will not complain. And since nobody said no to her names, the group was now officially "
Taters over Haters" No takey backies.?
The Tabaxi will be a watch with her favorite bard. She'll probably just put her fuzzy head on his lap and snooze away.

Cerina can help keep watch as well ... she doesn't have spells to rest for. She will ponder more to herself than anyone, "Did we not enter some door we passed, or hallway. Its weird that we seem to be going up rather than further down."

As far as a more defensible place without a corpse,?Sweet William?is confident that there is only one entrance into this

North attempts another unknown spell that he¡¯s only heard of before, triggering another Wild Magic surge:

The Intaglio cantrip succeeds though, and he does in fact duplicate the map. Unfortunately, the duplicate only lasts for the duration of concentration (up to an hour) so when he falls asleep and eventually wakes, the page is blank again.
If the party is resting here, Fenn and his companions will move on, promising to indicate their way by drawing arrows with a yellow Dwarven crayon (a
hollow reed filled with dense yellow clay).
Brother Ashley offers a prayer of Aid to benefit them for the next 8 hours of their journey, shakes hands with each, then after they depart will check to make certain the door is fully shut and Tabby and Cerina are comfortable, before taking
his own rest.
