Important: Re-verification email
Lynne, listowner of the DNA-Newbie group crafted the perfect email to tell you all what's going?on and why you are getting an odd email from 开云体育. I asked her permission to forward it to all my groups, and she has granted me permission to do so. If you have already deleted the email from 开云体育, don't reply to this one; that will not work.? Instead, login to 开云体育. You need not login to each group to which you belong; simply to to ?and either put in your password if you created one, or click "Send me a link" and when it arrives, click the link it sends you. As Lynne says, your login will count as confirmation. If you wish to leave, do nothing and you will be unsubscribed. Option two:
Log into your 开云体育 account and your active login will count as confirmation.
Sending an email to me or to the group will not work as verification.? You must do either of the choices listed above. What a year 2020 has been!
Dearest fellow genealogists,
?
As I write, it's a quiet Christmas night, in a quiet, distant holiday season. I miss the noise and fun of being with family, but I'm so thankful to you, each of you, for joining with me in this quest we have to discover and recover families who are out of touch with ancestors and living cousins too.?
?
Mastering Genealogical Proof by Thomas W. Jones was a Christmas present this year, and I was delighted to read on page one:
There has much grief and loss this year and I'm afraid more lies ahead. However, I see many reasons to be hopeful and anticipate some great things in the future.?
?
Happy holidays,
?

Book: The Daiber family heritage
We're such a tiny group, researching a rare surname. However, a brief google brought me to WorldCat, where I found:
The Daiber family heritage
Author:?Shirley A Daiber
Publisher: Highland, IL : Highland Printers, ?1992.
Edition/Format:?Print book : English
Summary:?Brief history of the Daiber family who emigrated from Germany in 1853 and settled near Alhambra, Ill. (in Madison County). Have any here read the book? I may try to order it via interlibrary loan. See the listing here:? All the best, Valorie |
Things to do
Hello cousins, I was hunting for something to send to my genealogy society (South King County GS) and thought you might enjoy it too. A bit of THE GENEALOGICAL FORUM's?Thursday Evening E-News Edition: April 2, 2020: ? In a recent GenealogyBank blogpost, Gena Philibert-Ortega describes five ways family historians can use library services even when the building itself is closed. Check out her entry entitled Genealogy during Quarantine: 5 Things to Do When the Library Is Closed. ? ? How many of us wish we had a diary or journal from an ancestor who lived through the 1918 Spanish Influenza Pandemic? The Genealogy Reporter, Amie Bowser Tenant has some suggestions for creating your own journal of memories related to our current Covid-19 experience in her post, Journaling about the Coronavirus Pandemic of 2020. ? ? Looking for fun ways to engage kids in finding family history? The National Archives is providing downloadable family trees and charts for kids of all ages. What a great way to spend some of your time with your loved ones in this time of physical distancing. While there, check out some of their other Educator Resources. While exploring the first link, I found??. What a treasure trove! I promised to work on my husband's Daiber family, and I did find a LOT on MyHeritage and?Chronicling America from The Library of Congress:? but what I found didn't help me find his family here in the US or in Germany - yet. This is someone's John Daiber/Dauber, Civil War soldier but I see no evidence that he's mine: Anyone know more about this John and Catherine? I did find out my husband's John Daiber's wife Catherine's surname, Kreeb. And she may connect to a German family on FamilySearch:?. As always, more research needed.? What have you been doing, and what have you found? Valorie |
Expanding horizons
No matter where you live, we're all facing the same threats, fears, and cascading news. I read something today that I thought you would like to see:

Judy Russell is always worth hearing. I hope you find this useful.
?
Valorie PS: I hope to post about my husband's Daiber gg-grandmother soon. Please post about your own Daibers and invite other researchers who might find us useful. |
