My listening position is low...maybe a new armchair is needed...but not now.
Depends on? your listening position,?I think. Try it and see how it sounds.?
Not...I reversed my original stands with the lip to the front to tilt them....bad idea as the speakers were no longer beaming at ear level and sounded lifeless.
Yes, curious too because when I put my 10s on top of the 1W subs, one thought was, am I adding in essentially a very large baffle board to the bottom, basically turning the DQ 10 inot a mega-elongated (vertically)? DQ 10. Thoughts?
Thank you Dave.? I'm old enough that I didn't want to physically move
all four speakers.? You saved my back.? I really am a big time DQ-10 fan.
Your set-up must sound wonderful.

The LP-1 and DQ-10 in stock form are two of the finest designs ever. The MX and subs are unfortunately not in the same arena. Since your dealing with sub frequencies the stock op-amps are perfectly suitable. The oem jacks are usually serviceable as long as you resolder them. The electrolytic caps should be replaced or at least closely checked on an ESR meter. The OEM values are fine. The blue film caps are generally also still serviceable. Again we are dealing with sub frequencies here. The 6db cap is of upmost importance since it deals with the mids and highs. So save your money and start with NOS Russian milspec teflon's. Once you try those you may decide to avoid all the usual mass marketing bling. As for any plate amp sub under the sun. Don't even waste your time. Just go with the LP1 and it's the end of the story.?

165 wpc is far from overkill but that¡¯s only one part of the real ?issue I see here. While the SX1250 ?is a fine vintage receiver in of itself, it is a poor choice for a sub amp. It just doesn¡¯t have the damping and control to achieve a tight accurate low end. I highly recommend a big bipolar SS amp like the Bryston 4 series, Adcom 555, Crown DC300 (a great bass amp if you can find one in good condition), or a big Krell if you can afford it. There will be a world of difference in performance ¨C I know this from personal experience. ? ? ? ?
