Re: Dahlquist newbie...DQ-10 crossover question.
This was one list A few changes as I used both lists The 5.6 caps were changed to 6.0 on the other list which matches original caps so I used 6.0uf I used a diff one for woofers. I have two sets of

Re: Dahlquist newbie...DQ-10 crossover question.
Richard....is this the list you were referring to? Thank you everyone for the responses, it's helpful.

Re: Dahlquist newbie...DQ-10 crossover question.
I would start by replacing the electrolytics, and then move on to mirror imaging. ?That will give most of the benefit. ?You could upgrade other caps later, when ready for another project.

Re: Dahlquist newbie...DQ-10 crossover question.
I¡¯m sure I have the complete rebuild list of parts and directions. I just did the xo recapping and didn¡¯t do the wiring or other things. I can say the new caps did improve bass and slightly tamed

Re: Dahlquist newbie...DQ-10 crossover question.
Replacing each cap and resistor with clarity caps and mills resistors takes about an hour tops. I¡¯ve done it on two pairs.theres a list of parts from madisound on the site. I can send images if

Re: Dahlquist newbie...DQ-10 crossover question.
I did the second option. To make the mod easier, I just clipped the legs(wire) close to the old cap and twisted and soldered the legs of the new caps. Not too pretty but doesn't affect or diminish

Dahlquist newbie...DQ-10 crossover question.
First off...thank you all for this group and the massive amount of information available for Dahlquist owners. I picked up my DQ-10s last week from the original owner. ?They appeared pretty clean and

Re: Recommendations on Compact Amplifiers
Full range without subs try 300++wpc to start. And be sure to attach large heat sinks to the power resistors. Then either use fans, or lay damp wash cloths, or both, on top of the sinks prior to

Re: Recommendations on Compact Amplifiers
Have you looked at the Peachtree line of amps and preamps? Don¡¯t recall the exact dimensions, but they are rather compact and used ones are available for low prices on the net. Sent: Friday, August

Re: Recommendations on Compact Amplifiers
Whatever you choose make sure you have at least 200 wpc or you won't get the sound you want for those speakers. good luck.

Re: Dahlquist respect or lack thereof.
Thanks for the replies folks. ?Pretty much what I expected. I have heard the Time Windows, and they are very nice, but not as versatile as even my lowly m907¡¯s in my opinion. ?Maybe someday I will

Re: Dahlquist respect or lack thereof.
Str8wire, Yes, I¡¯ve heard about the DCM Time Windows, but never had a chance to listen to them. When I chose my DQ10¡¯s, the other candidate was the Bose 901¡¯s, but after my first listen to the

Bryan, I¡¯m listening to Shostakovich¡¯s 11th, enjoying it! Thank you for the recommendation! lol Parts of the 11th remind me of one of my favourites, Bartok¡¯s Miraculous Mandarin - that piece

Ditto John, Owned mine since 1980 also. Had my choice of the DQ 10s or DCM Time Windows, remember those? They are a mirrored pair had the woofers reckoned some time ago but haven¡¯t touched the

Re: Dahlquist respect or lack thereof.
It's an interesting contrast, but when you think about it as I have, Dahlquists (the legacy older products, and the DQ 10 in particular, not the newer or Canadian stuff) shares a lot in common with

Re: Dahlquist respect or lack thereof.
I agree. Bought my pair in ¡®76, they still have the ability to move me emotionally. Crossovers have been rebuilt , woofers too. Recently added a pair of Vandersteens to the stable, they are fine

Re: Dahlquist respect or lack thereof.
I¡¯ve owned my DQ10¡¯s since 1980. I¡¯ve listened to a variety of speakers, in an attempt to replace them and I found nothing to compare. The Maggie¡¯s were on my list and while I found them very

Re: Dahlquist respect or lack thereof.
I can relate completely. I bought a pair of DQ 12's and spent only $500 ...Sound is wide and deep, yet precise. I cannot believe what these speakers can do... I have heard Maggies and they cannot

Re: Dahlquist respect or lack thereof.
There are better more practical options like that new Magnepan for about 1200-1500 which is new and sounds great without rebuilding crossovers and drivers etc which is too much trouble imo
