Having listen to and still do 3 pairs of Bozak symphonies which lack a real top end over 12k the dq10’s are much more open in voices and cymbal area and triangles. I never heard a sound out of piezo unless I run a Bink cd of tones and then only at 10khz if I recall. I even tried another set same thing, redid xo same thing. Nothing that I know of comes out unless I ran a wire from tweeter to it then it sings.. made it too bright. Only thing there’s no deep bass from dq10. Bach low pedal tones are gone before and after xo recap . Very little punch below 50-60hz according to Bink cd and dB meter. So I used two subs via lp1 driven by 200w carver amps and the bass is ok. The subs drivers are very stiff. When I want more I turn on a polk 12” 300 w sub. Then the floors and walls shake but that not the goal. The DQ subs add enough in the Bal for me..it helps Bal out the mid and top end to my ears . I can still hear to 16khz .

Contrary to most who claim that the piezo was the culprit for the harsh ?fatiguing sound, ?I find the true villain to be the MB Quart tweeter,

a cheap and poor design in my view. That being said I’m sure the Clarity caps improved overall detail and “clarity”(no pun intended) without

sounding “bright”(DISTORTED). I’ve heard some bad digital and ?poorly designed SS amps that can also be incompatible with the DQ10.

BTW, I replaced my blown stock tweets with Scanspeak 2010 ? “ and put a 12 ohm resistor in parallel to compensate for the impedance

difference.? I also agree with Samuel about leaving well enough alone in replacing the stock MB Quart dome mid which is the “heart”

of the speaker IMHO.

Gosh guys aren’t they brighten up with stock mid range and tweeters. I redid the crossovers with clarity kept in order to calm him down a bit. I think the last thing we want to do is add any more brightness to the meeting or high end of the speakers the only thing I’ve really done other than change the crossover caps is at subwoofers

If I ever blow one after 60 years I’d be more inclined to just go buy another set of the for $400 and have a bunch of extra spares
