A recent??suggests dogs can cry tears of joy when their owners come home after a day at work. The tears are thought to deepen the bond between dogs and their owners. But how deep can that bond become?

PC Dave Wardell has an unbreakable bond with ex-police dog Finn, a German shepherd.

In 2016, at the age of seven, Finn was??while protecting PC Wardell, his handler, from an armed suspect in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

Finn had been trained by, and lived with the officer since he was a puppy.

PC Wardell is in no doubt that Finn saved his life on that fateful night almost six years ago, and frequently refers to the dog as a "hero".

The pair have been together "almost 24 hours a day - so the bond is very strong," he says.

PC Wardell saw Finn through his emergency surgery on the night of the attack, and slept next to the dog as he recovered at the family home.

A teenager was??for the attack.

The assault on the dog was dealt with by the law as "criminal damage",

Finn retired from duty at the age of eight in April 2017, having recovered from his near fatal injuries.

Since then he has continued to live as part of the policeman's family.

PC Wardell, who is still serving, is in no doubt about the strength of the bond between an owner and dog and was not surprised to see the findings of?.

However, he said: "I'm not sure I've ever seen Finn cry - but he's very squeaky and very happy to see his 'dad'.

"We're so bonded we both get very excited, and you can tell by his whole body that he is so happy.

"If Finn can't come on holiday with us, I don't go - and my family have come to understand that."

The bond between a retired police dog and his owner is so strong, he believes the animal has other powers.

"He blows the family away - if you believe in a sixth sense, then he has it," says PC Wardell.

"I work different hours and different shifts all the time, but Finn knows when I'm on my way home.

"My wife and the children have messaged to ask if I'm on my way because Finn is getting excited.

"I can be up to 40 miles away, but can say 'yes, I'm just getting in the car, now'.

"We're still best buddies," he says. "He knows what I'm thinking and there's no-one I'd rather spend time with.

"You can't ever break that bond."

NOAA finds cargo ship after fatal collision in September 1894

?have announced the discovery Wednesday of?a "magnificently preserved" shipwreck hundreds of feet below the surface of Lake Huron whose location had "remained a mystery for over 120 years."?

The 191-foot cargo vessel Ironton -- which sank following a collision in 1894 in an area called "Shipwreck Alley" – has been located within the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association.?

Only two members?of the ship’s seven-man crew survived the disaster by clinging onto floating wreckage in??The other five sailors, including Ironton’s captain, died after getting into the vessel’s lifeboat, which the crew was unable to detach from the ship during the chaos.?

"The discovery illustrates how we can use the past to create a better future,"?Jeff Gray, Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary superintendent, said in a statement. "Using this cutting-edge technology, we have not only located a pristine shipwreck lost for over a century, we are also learning more about one of our nation's most important natural resources -- the Great Lakes. This research will help protect Lake Huron and its rich history."?

Researchers from the NOAA, the state of Michigan and the Ocean Exploration Trust nonprofit teamed up to discover the Ironton’s wreckage.?

"Magnificently preserved by the cold freshwater of the Great Lakes for over a century, the 191-foot Ironton rests upright with its three masts still standing," the NOAA said Wednesday in its announcement of the find.?

Shortly after midnight on Sept. 26, 1894, the Ironton – a schooner barge that was being pulled by the Charles J. Kershaw?steamer – had its tow line cut to avoid a potential collision after the leading ship’s engine failed.?

"Ironton's crew found themselves suddenly adrift in the dark and at the mercy of Lake Huron's wind-blown seas," the NOAA said. "Under the direction of Captain Peter Girard, they fought to regain control of the ship, firing up the vessel's auxiliary steam engine to help set the struggling ship's sails."?

But despite that effort, the Ironton came into the path of the Ohio, a steamer carrying 1,000 tons of grain.?

"The two vessels separated after the impact, both fatally damaged. Ironton's bow tore a 12-foot diameter hole into Ohio's wooden hull," the NOAA said. "Heavily laden with cargo, Ohio sank quickly, with all 16 crew escaping on lifeboats. Nearby ships rescued the sailors."?

The Ironton, meanwhile, drifted out of sight of the responding ships until it succumbed to its fate.?

The NOAA says the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary and partners first found the Ohio in Lake Huron in 2017. ?

Two years later, its researchers went on a mapping expedition with the Ocean Exploration Trust – an organization founded by deep-sea explorer Robert Ballard, who discovered the wreck of the Titanic in 1985 -- and discovered the Ironton.?

"As the project came to its final days, the team had successfully mapped a large section of the search area, but Ironton remained undiscovered," the NOAA said. "The researchers expanded the search area. Persistence and determination were rewarded when the sonar returned an image from the lakebed of an unmistakable shipwreck -- and one that matched the description of Ironton."?

In 2021, the team returned to the site on a??"to collect high-resolution video and further document the wreck."?

Now the NOAA says it "intends to deploy a deep-water mooring buoy at the site of Ironton to mark the shipwreck's location and help divers visit the wreck site safely."?

"The discovery of Ironton inspires us to keep exploring," Gray said. "We will continue to map Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, and this research will ultimately lead to even more discoveries about the Great Lakes and the unique collection of shipwrecks that rest on the lakebed."?

A dog and his soldier: Lieutenant's prayers answered after beloved pup he bonded with overseas is rescued

U.S. Army First Lt. Tad said leaving Gus behind felt like 'betrayal' until Paws of War stepped in

A??for his best buddy to join him here at home apparently have been heard.

A stray dog found overseas by U.S. Army First Lt. Tad (full name withheld upon request) has been successfully rescued and brought to safety here in the U.S.

?Paws of War answered the soldier’s call earlier this month to retrieve the starving and abandoned pup named Gus. ?

At the start of his deployment, Tad first found Gus, who is about two years old, searching for food near the overseas Army base.

The pair immediately connected — and became inseparable after several months of bonding, Paws of War told Fox News Digital.

However, Tad was assigned a deployment requiring him to relocate — so he’d soon have to leave behind his furry best friend.

"I sat with Gus before I left the old base and my heart just sank," Tad wrote in a statement shared with Fox News Digital.

"I prayed hard that he would be OK, but walking away for the last time haunted me."

"I could tell he knew something was different, but he had no idea he was about to be alone again in a place [where] so many animals perish without someone to care for them."

Leaving Gus behind involved "more guilt than I could take," Tad said in his statement.

"He had helped me through deployment and [had] given me something to look forward to each day, and now I was about to betray him," he said.

"I prayed hard that he would be OK, but walking away for the last time haunted me," he continued.

The heart-wrenching goodbye on Jan. 2 of this year led Tad to reach out to New York-based Paws of War for help.

The organization was quick to tackle the complicated task of??from "dangerous" territory (exact location withheld upon request).?

When Paws of War’s overseas rescuers finally tracked Gus down, he was found alone on the base, still watching out in the distance "expecting his soldier to return," the group noted.

"I can't wait to see him again."

Gus was recently delivered to Tad’s family in??— where the dog will soon be reunited with his soldier and friend at the end of Tad's deployment this summer.

Paws of War located Gus near Tad's earlier Army base. It seemed the lonely dog was watching and waiting for his soldier to show up.??(Paws of War)

"The relief of knowing Gus is safe is indescribable," Tad said.?

"I truly didn't think it would happen and that was so hard to deal with."

He added, "Now I can't wait to see him again knowing he'll never have to be alone another day in his life. I'm grateful beyond words."

Paws of War’s "War-Torn Pups and Cats" program focuses on bringing animals rescued by soldiers overseas to the U.S. to be reunited with the men and women who saved them.?

"We couldn't be more thrilled for Gus and Lieutenant Tad, and we thank everyone who makes what we do possible."

"This is a perfect example of why our work is so important," Robert Misseri, co-founder of Paws of War, said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital.?

"It's an??every time to get another [pet to safety]," he added.?

"We couldn't be more thrilled for Gus and Lieutenant Tad, and we thank everyone who makes what we do possible."

Misseri explained that what motivates the organization is witnessing the heartbreak felt by U.S. service members who are forced to leave behind animals they see "as family members" — and then being able to reunite them eventually.

"Our rescue missions for our soldiers and the animals they love are funded by the kindness of compassionate members of the public who believe in our work and want to help give back to our heroes," he said.

Paws of War, a 501c3 nonprofit, has more than 80 active cases in progress right now.

Budweiser Clydesdales OK Following Scary Hitch Accident

Budweiser Clydesdales OK Following Scary Hitch Accident

At the Western Heritage Classic in Abilene, Texas last weekend, an eight-horse team of Budweiser Clydesdales was performing their iconic hitch maneuvering when an accident occurred.

It appears from the footage taken from the grandstands that at around the?4-minute mark, one of the horses simply tripped, which caused a disastrous and very frightening-looking pileup of several of the 2,000-pound animals. (Warning, the fall is a bit alarming and hard to watch.)

To the credit of the handlers, trainers, and hitch team that make these horses what they are, and to the credit of the horses themselves, not one of the team panicked, thrashed, or bolted throughout the unhitching and detangling process. Instead, the geldings calmly waited as the wagon team freed each horse one at a time from their 130-pound harnesses.

The announcer kept the audience calm, and salvaged the exhibition’s conclusion by telling the crowd, “You have just witnessed a miracle.” It is incredible and fortunate that every horse walked out on his own four feet, though horsemen may be more inclined to chalk it up to years of high safety standards, superb training, and countless hours of preparation for just such a calamity by the Budweiser Clydesdale Team.

A public relations representative for Budweiser provided an update that none of the horses was seriously injured, and all are expected to return to the hitch.

Go Budweiser Cyldesdales.

"He is going to totally examine that animal," the announcer shared. "They will look over the rest of them that were in that hitch as well. They are beautiful."?

This year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union address were in close proximity. This was an ironic juxtaposition of events. One involved a meaningless ritual, in which we looked to an insignificant creature of little intelligence for prognostication. The other involved a groundhog.

Says I am a VIOLIN

The Violin ? You are a person who likes to keep to yourself and take a break from the hustle and bustle around you, which sometimes burdens you emotionally. This doesn’t mean that you are not a social person, but that you simply pick people in your company to suit your quiet nature. You prefer to spend your evenings at home, and you find happiness in quiet moments, something that many others do not know how to do.

America 'unrecognizable' and on the brink of collapse, experts warn: 'Turning on our own legacy'

Fox Nation's 'American Requiem' showcases the ways in which America has become less civilized over time.

Is America dying before our eyes??

All societies eventually collapse – from the??to the ever-alarming decline of modern America, could the past be hinting at what's in store?

?

With skyrocketing inflation, political division, social unrest and a relentless effort to wipe away the fundamental principles of the nation, historians and scholars in??series offer an elegy for what the country used to be and warn of what it has become.

"The America of the 1980s has pretty much vanished," Manhattan Institute senior fellow Chris Rufo said. "We're now entering a new period of unprecedented economic, social and cultural change."

"We're in a very bizarre and unprecedented situation in our civilization today, which is – we are turning on our own legacy and declaring it evil, oppressive, without any redeeming characteristics…" Manhattan Institute senior fellow??said in the special.

"There's [sic] some days I wake up and read the news and look around me and say, ‘I don’t recognize this country anymore.'" Steven Hayward, a resident scholar at the University of California, Berkley added.

The??dissects America's cultural fabric and the tears that it has suffered, picking out the pivotal changes that signal the nation's exponential decline in the last 30 years that created the country we see today.

Among the devastating changes,?, are unbearable living costs, anti-American "woke" sentimentality infiltrating the nation's public schools and universities, riots in the streets of major U.S. cities, and the emboldening of the nation's greatest adversaries, including?.

"The gas prices, the housing crisis, the crisis with education, with healthcare… [it's] one crisis after another," retired Vanderbilt and Princeton professor Dr. Carol Swain said.

?focuses on an issue that contributes to the disastrous recipe for further decline - including crime, division, demoralization, and how the way each element continues to run riot could signal a possible collapse of American society as a whole.

"[People] have lost the hope that the future for America will be brighter than its past," Heritage Foundation President Dr. Kevin Roberts lamented.

"The??is only as strong as its weakest link, and all the values have to be passed on in their entirety from one generation to the other," said historian and Hoover Institution senior fellow Victor Davis Hanson.?

The voices culminate to warn that erasing America's past and the principles of??that constructed its foundation could spell a devastating change in the near future.

Ah, the age-old question of how to fight boredom at home. Some people turn to puzzles, others to TV shows. But for the truly ambitious, there’s nothing quite like recreating famous paintings with common household items. I mean, who needs an actual canvas when you’ve got a roll of toilet paper and a can of beans? And let’s not forget the real MVPs of the game – the pets, who are always willing to serve as both subject and muse. So next time you’re stuck at home, join , grab a bottle of ketchup and a mop and see what masterpieces you can create? Just don’t be surprised if your friends start calling you the “Cleaning Supply Picasso”.

The black lab retired from the force in January last year and had been living with his handler. He died on Dec. 30, just shy of his 8th birthday, according to the sheriff’s office.

"URL was trained in the infancy of a nationwide program intended to include Electronic Storage Detection in police services. URL was only the fourth dog to be certified as such in the United States," the??stated.

URL and his handler, Det. Cameron Hartman, were able to execute more than 2,000 arrest warrants together, with the K9 often sniffing out electronic devices involving child pornography and other sex abuse cases. He soon gained the moniker of "porn-sniffing dog."

In one of URL’s more "remarkable" cases, according to the sheriff’s office, he was able to sniff out a USB drive disguised as a key on a keyring full of keys. In other cases, URL found an SD card that was hidden on a high shelf in a Utah residence and a cellphone hidden in a book. He even managed to find a micro-SD card that was hidden in a baby jar stored inside a pencil case and hidden in a cedar chest ?with other items.?

His work launched him into the national spotlight. The pooch was flown with his handler to Los Angeles in 2017 for an interview with actor Terry Crews and was featured on the show "Cops."?

"So many incredible experiences and opportunities that you brought me as I was just the guy at the boring end of the leash holding on for dear life.?Thank you, ‘URL,’ for trusting me, for working so hard, for loving me unconditionally, and for being?" his handler wrote in a message included in the sheriff office’s announcement.
