Hmm! That's something I hadn't thought of. But yes, I think that
would provide a visual indication on the Export pane that the
filter is in use. I think what we are trying to accomplish is to
make the help files irrelevant if we possibly can. If there is
some way to make the functionality obvious without reading the
directions cover to cover we're going in the right direction :-)

Would having the log window (and its sort and filter
controls) remain
visible when you select the Export tab be a better
approach? I'm reluctant
to provide multiple filters applied to the same
underlying database -- the
opportunities for user confusion seem too plentiful...

It works fine for me the way it is. However, I
suspect it may be
more intuitive especially for the first time user to have a
separate filter in the export pane completely
independent of the
filter in the log pane.
