Re: 2-B Gain Setting
I notice that the manual seems to be slightly unorganized but not bad. It's all there and it's not that many pages so that's fine. Like I said, I really need to reread the entire manual. I wish I

It¡¯s well after the actual alignment procedure. It¡¯s strange that it is where it is. 73, Steve Wedge, W1ES/4 Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana. Sent from Proton Mail for iOS

Re: 2-B Gain Setting
I see now where other places in the manual refers to zeroing the S-Meter as setting it to the "1". I should read the entire manual! Just curious where the procedure you outline is defined in the

Re: 2-B Gain Setting
on the rear, next to the SENSITIVITY adjustment is the S METER CAL (R67). You turn down the RF Gain as much as possible and set the meter for S9+60 or the right peg -- whichever comes first :-) I

There's R-48 (RF GAIN) and R-24 (S METER ZERO). What's the third component? Thanks, Barry - N4BUQ

Re: 2-B Gain Setting
If you can set all three within the adjustment ranges of the pots then you have a good set. One of the 2-B's that I'm in the process of completing had an RF GAIN pot that was at 28M (surprisingly, my

2-B Gain Setting
For setting the receiver gain in a 2-B, the manual states to zero the S-Meter. Is that supposed to be "1" on the dial? I know 0 != 1, but the meter doesn't have a zero on it. Is it possible that zero

Re: Aligning the TR7
That should be good enough. It's a digital circuit so it either works or not. If it locks properly across all bands I wouldn't bother. 73 -Jim NU0C "jerry-KF6VB" <jerry@...> wrote:

I also have gotten great results with a roller on Drake and Heath radios that did not have a smooth satin finish. The late TR7¡¯s had black cases anyway so it¡¯s pretty authentic to use satin black
