Re: Drake L7 grid/voltage meter
If anyone is interested, "ice blue" LEDs are now available that are a good match for the correct Drake aqua blue gels. I recently used one in my TR5 to replace a #53 lamp. LEDs surround the top

Re: Latest problem with RV-75
No, L211 and L212 would not do that. They are parallel resonant circuits to peak the third harmonic of the crystal. They will not change the frequency. Apparently you are missing the 10 Hz steps. From

C-7, Revisited
About 18 months ago, when I acquired the mythical C-7 console, I predicted a TR-7 was in my future if I did not find a C-4 replacement front panel. It turns out I was right :-) --lyndon

L7 filament choke connections
Since today is apparently fun with L7 pictures day, I thought I would post this. L7 owners, you may want to check your filament choke connections occasionally. These are images from the amp with the

Re: Drake L7 grid/voltage meter
I could try that I suppose. I have some cool whites somewhere. This one is pretty bad. Attached pic is with warm whites behind. Before anyone says anything, the meter is off-scale left due to a static

Re: Drake L7 grid/voltage meter
And attached are two de-yellowed images, 24 BPP and 1 BPP. Either would look good printed actual size. 73 -Jim NU0C "Jim Shorney via groups.io" <jimNU0C@...> wrote:

Re: Drake L7 grid/voltage meter
I have an outlier L7: one meter is normal and the other is "yellowy" I have reduced the apparent difference by using a "warm white" LED behind the normal one and a "white" LED bulb behind the yellow

OK Guys, STOP. We have a good image of the scale. Mark just needs someone to PRINT it to scale for this amp! 73 -Jim NU0C "Bill Leonard N0CU" <billincolo73@...> wrote:

Richard, What is it about those HP meters that have them listed on eBay for 3x more than what you can get a nice HP 8640B sig gen for? Also, what is the input impedance of a good VTVM? I have tried

Re: Drake L7 grid/voltage meter
Mark, If you don't get any responses, I think that I still have a copy of the program that was on the software CD that came with the ARRL Handbook years ago. It allows you to print a new scale for any

Re: L7 value
Congrats. The Alphas, generally speaking, are more robust amps. Although you do have to take better care of the grids in those metal triodes. 73 -Jim NU0C "K8CCA" <echapm4@...> wrote:

Just finished the full alignment.? All frequencies and voltages look great. The only problem is that when tuning, I cannot get the 100hz digit on the TR7 to increment and then it will advance by
Re: R4B AVC issue
I don't follow Mr. Carlson. It sounds like his super-probe is nothing more than a signal tracer. Signal tracers were common service instruments for years. An AC detector on a small audio amplifier
