Re: Drake L7 grid/voltage meter

If anyone is interested, "ice blue" LEDs are now available that are a good match for the correct Drake aqua blue gels. I recently used one in my TR5 to replace a #53 lamp. LEDs surround the top bayonet like a turret and in the TR5 it results in even lighting across the meter scale.

I could try that I suppose. I have some cool whites somewhere. This one is pretty bad. Attached pic is with warm whites behind. Before anyone says anything, the meter is off-scale left due to a static charge. After I let it dissipate the meter works fine.

I have an outlier L7: one meter is normal and the other is "yellowy" I have reduced the apparent difference by using a "warm white" LED behind the normal one and a "white" LED bulb behind the yellow one.

My L7 has the blue filters in front of the meters and the later meters, so it's all with the meter scales.

Mark,
If you don't get any responses, I think that I still have a copy of the program that was on the software CD that came with the ARRL Handbook years ago. It allows you to print a new scale for any meter by simply entering in the basics parameters. The program no longer comes with the ARRL handbooks. It was developed for Win7, so I don't know if it will work on later Windows systems. Let me know if you are interested.

Hello,

Can anyone print me off a white copy of this meter scale from the L7 so I can replace my yellow version? I'm not sure if it needs to be on paper or plastic? Thanks, 73
