TR7/R7 Extender Boards and Puller
Hello to the group.
I am looking for a set of extender boards and puller for the Drake TR7/R7. Thank you for your time and consideration. 73, Chuck aa5wg@... 231-668-1115 |
Re: Drake T4XC and R4C
People would be better off if they scraped the numbers off the old rigs s-meters. As you have a calibrated generator you probably have a meter you can put across the speaker.? Send in a low level signal in the two rigs and see if you can hear or measure the audio at the speaker and see if the two? rigs seem to hear the weak signal equally.? This will tell you if the low s-meter indicates a problem or just a low meter reading. Ralph ku4pt

Re: T4XC AGC
I looked this situation with my early T-4X.? It had the 1meg resistor. ? |
Re: Drake T4XC and R4C
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThe R-4C is not S9 with a -73 dBm test signal.? -80 dBm to even -85 dBm is more typical for S9 from 80m through 10m.?? 160m is typically 10 dB lower in gain.? (That doesn¡¯t matter at all due to 160m band noise.) ? If in transceive mode, the T-4XC LO injection is another variable as your data appears to show.? None of the Drake mixers are near saturation, thus gain differences are typical in transceive mode due to LO level differences.? ? As a starting point consider the attached alignment tips.? (You can ignore the FPS-4 information.) ? Rob, NC0B ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]

Re: Cleaning crystals.
I¡¯ve not tried that.? The beauty of powder BKF is that it¡¯s also super cheap :-) Steve Wedge, W1ES/4 Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana. Sent from Proton Mail for iOS On Mon, Mar 27, 2023 at 11:53, Richard Knoppow <1oldlens1@...> wrote:

Re: Cleaning crystals.
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýFWIW another cleaner called ZUD seems to be identical.? I think both are available in liquid as well as powder form.?? -------- Original message -------- From: "Steve Wedge, W1ES/4 via groups.io" <w1es@...> Date: 3/27/23 8:44 AM (GMT-08:00) Subject: [DRAKE-RADIO] Cleaning crystals. I was enjoying some casual time with putting my Collins receiver back together and decided to try getting the crystals better looking than the greenish-brown that they were. I¡¯ve seen Drake crystals that sometimes look this bad and decided to try an old standby: Bar Keeper¡¯s Friend.? It took very little effort to make these crystals look like they did in 1964.? Bonus: BKF seems to help with old, dull knobs, too. I¡¯ve been using a handi-wipe but could see getting this loaded into a Dremel buffing pad.? 73, Steve Wedge, W1ES/4 Time flies like an arrow. Bill, I know the feeling! I can use a board with the counter section not functioning. The all-band coverage portion does have to work. No hurry. Contact me off list at k9ju@.... Thank you. 73, Bob K9JU Maryville, TN

Bob, The DR7 Board has been sitting in storage for almost 10 years if not longer. I don't recall the actual problem. If I decide to take the existing one out and clean the contacts again! For probably the 5th time. I will try inserting the defective one. No guarantee. My dexterity is gone and that is why I am considering selling the entire TR7. 73 Bill W4WCS?

Attached is a picture of my knob and switch. It is not as rusty as theDave, it appears someone lost the original reducer bushing and attempted to use the separator bushing instead. No wonder they stripped it out. The two bushings are not identical. As you can see in my photo, the insert has the necessary D shape. I'd recommend putting that bushing back on the shaft and trying various available materials to make a new reducer insert for the knob. If the knob isn't split, perhaps you can drill and tap for a larger set screw.? -- 73 de Steve K9NUD .. |

Looking for a 14.6 Mhz Xtal for my drake..? its for 3.5-4.0 Mhz... Mine just died..?
And NO its not the circuit? I put in a 15.6 and everything worked.. so its a bad Xtal.. Not looking to pay for a AF4K over priced crystal.. Anyone have a spare from a Junker radio??? Skip Will NOT allow me to edit the subject.. |
