Re: Large amount of Drake gear in latest Schulman web auction

I wouldn;t say so much work as time?involved in packing and selling radios.? Packing supplies aren't that much and shipping through UPS/FEDEX are reasonable?if you get an account with them to receive reduced rates.? Us Old Farts seem to have an excess of time in between our?daily naps.? I sell most of my excess ham gear on the 3, QRZ, Eham, & QTH websites and local ham club swaplists. So far I have been avoiding ebay to sell although I do buy there.??

Re: B-line out of storage after 30 years

Harold

I am not an expert on these matters, but I'll just say what I have done.

The power?supply should?be OK so long as it is brought up slowly with a variac and loudspeaker in place.? I took 3 days to bring it up - 10 volts at a time..

I personally would not worry about the Rx tubes since they will come up gradually and the there will be several electrolytics in the Rx section.

But I am not expert at all at dealing with tubes not used for a long time.? There can be some issue with the cathodes and there is a process.? Maybe I have been lucky.

The Rx and Tx should be brought up separately - the Rx first.? But others might advise on the tubes, especially the PA tubes?and driver.? I am not familiar with the standard AC4 power supply, but the EHT from the doubler circuit may only be activated on Transmit, so the electrolytics on EHT may need a separate process.

I will watch these posts from more experienced people, since I bought a T4XB some years ago from Switzerland, and never switched on from new.

Re: Large amount of Drake gear in latest Schulman web auction

I purchased a nice Collins KWM-2 in one of their recent auctions.? They sent an email asking you to notify them if you have some special shipping arrangement, otherwise if you are an out of state bidder like me, it goes pretty smooth.? They have the local UPS franchise pick up the items and the UPS store contacts you directly to give you a quote on packing and shipping and then you pay them directly.? I think it was around $120 to get the KWM-2 shipped to me in California and it was double boxed and arrived in perfect?condition.? The boxing was done so nicely that I saved all of the packing in my shed in case I need to ship one in the future.
