Re: Large amount of Drake gear in latest Schulman web auction
Myron Babcock
I wouldn;t say so much work as time?involved in packing and selling radios.? Packing supplies aren't that much and shipping through UPS/FEDEX are reasonable?if you get an account with them to receive reduced rates.? Us Old Farts seem to have an excess of time in between our?daily naps.? I sell most of my excess ham gear on the 3, QRZ, Eham, & QTH websites and local ham club swaplists. So far I have been avoiding ebay to sell although I do buy there.?? Myron KL7YY On Fri, Mar 26, 2021 at 2:01 PM AC9PA via <byroncordes=[email protected]> wrote:

I would say if you could get 1/2 price of value of radios and don¡¯t have to do anything take it ! ?No packing shipping etc .?

This must be a last resort way of unloading years of boat anchor radio equipment.? Wouldn't think you would get as many dollars from the auction? process as you would through individual local or ham website sources.? What kind of fees are charging using the Schulman Auction??? ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYep us old farts ! I two years ago had over 30 working radios and 20 parts radios ! I¡¯m down to 3 radios ! ?Had to help a sk wife cleanup ! He had 200 items or more ! Don¡¯t want my kids to go through that . ?It woke me up! ?I still have a room 18x18 full but most of it will be easy to get someone to take it . We actually have a few younger hams in our club now so I¡¯d hope they would take it.? Yes our days are numbered just when we get old we realize they¡¯re getting a few! 73s Byron AC9PA? John, on the shipping question, Dave covers that somewhat in the preamble to the auction, in the first couple of pages. He has arrangements with a local shipping place (UPS??) and uses them. I would drop him a line to find out all the particulars. I am local so I just drive over!? Not that I buy much since I am already well stocked with the projects!? But, bottom line, check on the auction site and then contact Mr. Schulman with any further questions.? |

Re: B-line out of storage after 30 years
Harold I am not an expert on these matters, but I'll just say what I have done. The power?supply should?be OK so long as it is brought up slowly with a variac and loudspeaker in place.? I took 3 days to bring it up - 10 volts at a time.. I personally would not worry about the Rx tubes since they will come up gradually and the there will be several electrolytics in the Rx section. But I am not expert at all at dealing with tubes not used for a long time.? There can be some issue with the cathodes and there is a process.? Maybe I have been lucky. The Rx and Tx should be brought up separately - the Rx first.? But others might advise on the tubes, especially the PA tubes?and driver.? I am not familiar with the standard AC4 power supply, but the EHT from the doubler circuit may only be activated on Transmit, so the electrolytics on EHT may need a separate process. I will watch these posts from more experienced people, since I bought a T4XB some years ago from Switzerland, and never switched on from new. Re: Large amount of Drake gear in latest Schulman web auction
I purchased a nice Collins KWM-2 in one of their recent auctions.? They sent an email asking you to notify them if you have some special shipping arrangement, otherwise if you are an out of state bidder like me, it goes pretty smooth.? They have the local UPS franchise pick up the items and the UPS store contacts you directly to give you a quote on packing and shipping and then you pay them directly.? I think it was around $120 to get the KWM-2 shipped to me in California and it was double boxed and arrived in perfect?condition.? The boxing was done so nicely that I saved all of the packing in my shed in case I need to ship one in the future. Brian W6BRY? On Fri, Mar 26, 2021 at 8:19 AM John <johnk5mo@...> wrote:
