I'm also bringing back on line a TR-7.? ?This is one that I had bought a few years back from Fair Radio during a store visit.? It was complete, but not working.

My TR-7 was exhibiting the same symptom as yours.? ?But mine didn't start doing this until after I started adjusting the? 2nd IF board.? ? After I got the calibration right, the radio will close the relays when switching to CW mode, but will release after about a second.? ?After that it seems to be in proper TX mode as I can trigger the transmitter with CW key and it does switch to TX mode.? ?I do not have the power connected for the PA, so I'm planning on doing all of that next.? ?I'm also planning on reviewing the rework that is on the 2nd IF board, I do not think that it has any of the later design updates that effect this area of operation.? ??

One think I have noticed though is that the overall audio level seems low.? ?The radio in general has enough sensitivity, and the S-Meter and IF calibration looks good.? The radio just isn't? that loud.? So, perhaps one or more of the electrolytic caps in the AF chain are lossy.? ?
