I would like to connect my DINAH to a Motorola GM300 VHF mobile radio. If anyone has already done this, where did you get your cable between the DINAH and the GM300? --- Mike / K5MAP

Audio distortion.
7
The audio from my node sounds overdriven and distorted. The Dinah doesn¡¯t have a physical audio gain pot but the information on the site indicates ¡°includes optional jumpers and parts locations to permit the builder to insert fixed attenuation in the audio paths.¡± sadly no instructions on how this is done. The simpleusb-tune-menu application has no discernible on the audio quality nor does ¡°reduce audio telemetry volume¡± within Asterisk. What does work is changing the baud rate to 9600 on my Kenwood TM-V71. The audio is very clear but very low. It makes no difference if the trace is cut or not. Any advice would be very welcome. 73 de VA7EQ

DTMF Control Not Working
3
Any DTMF tones being sent to the node through the DINAH board do not see to be making it to the Pi for control. There is bidirectional audio working fine. The rig is a Kenwood TM-V708. > DINAH > RPi Does the DINAH board strip out the DTMF tones or is there an additional setup to allow them to pass or be heard by the node. Thanks for any advice or assistance.

Yaesu FT7800 / 7900
9
Hello DINAH users. I have just purchased a DINAH - C (USBC) model. I am trying to setup the DINAH with my Raspberry Pi4B. It is receiving and the radio is then transmitting from a node that it's connected to, so I can hear stations via my Handy from the FT7800, but When I transmit using my Handy on the same frequency nothing looks to be happening. It is not keying up the DINAH ? Any help or if someone has a working Image file for the Raspberry PI tuning the DINAH for the FT7800 radio, it would be appreciated ! Cheers and thanks Craig. VK3NCR

DINAH and FT991A
Hello, I am new to this DIINAH thing. However, I am familiar with Linux. I have an intel laptop running all the allstar stuff, connected the DINAH to an FT991. Have the FT991 set up as -RPTR, with CTC tone. I have a permanent reconnecting link for allstar to connect to East Coast Reflector. Now all is going well, and we can receive traffic from ECR just fine. Keying up a handy, I see the FT991 TX trigger, but using echolink to check, I am not getting tx indications nor audio when transmitting from a handy to the FT991. So maybe allstar setting for the DINAH is not registering an incoming local transmit? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Stumped: Can't use Dinah with 9600 Baud Pin/Kenwood Radio
3
Hi. I have a Dinah and a Kenwood TM-V71A. I have a couple friends with the same set up who have switched DIN plug pins 4 and 5, and are getting flatter/nicer audio as a result. We all ordered the same adapter cable from Mobilink to do this. Two of us are hearing ourselves on Allstar when we transmit into the node radio with an HT. I am not. I have copied all settings: packet sensitivity, SQC, etc. to copy my friend¡¯s, and still nothing. I have two TM-V71¡¯s, so I did a full reset on the second one, and copied my friend¡¯s settings for the data port and still, no audio. That rules out a possible problem with one radio¡¯s data port. NOTE: If I crank SimpleUSB menu 2, RX level, all the way up, and turn on RX boost, I can hear myself but very quietly. Audio coming the other way, from Allstar is fine. What could be the problem? There aren¡¯t many things to adjust here, so I am stumped. All suggestions welcome. Thanks and 73 Chris

Kenwood TM-V7 and CTCSS
3
I decided to turn on CTCSS on my Allstar/Kenwood TM-V7. I thought I would be able to open up the squelch but it apparently turns on COS when the squelch is open but no station is transmitting? Has anyone else run into this or is it just me? For now, I had to adjust the squelch so COS is not triggered.

DINAH and ICOM-706MK2G
9
ICOM-706 MK2G has a 6 PIN DIN connector at the back of the radio. It appears from the schematics that the pins are compatible with the DINAH. I am using an RPI with Echolink/Allstarlink software installed. I connected the DINAH to my ICOM-706 MKIIG and the RPI. To test the setup, I connected to my RPI node. It appears the ICOM-706 MK2G is transmitting. I¡¯ve adjusted the Squelch on the radio as high as possible to try to eliminate unwanted noise. This did not resolve the issue. I need guidance as to what else I need to set to make the setup work properly. FYI: I was able to make the connection work on a different radio, Kenwood TM-733A. Sent from Mail for Windows -- 73 WG8M

New to Allstar Link Node
21
Gathering all my equipment to set up my node. Plan on using a Yasue FTM-100DR as my radio on the 70cm band (446.00Mhz?) Got my DINAH (fully assembled). I already had the Yaesu 10pin to 6pin cable. Waiting for my Raspberry Pi 4 2GB to arrive. Have my node number already. Anything else I should be aware of before I set everything up? Thanks for any help or suggestions. -- Furman N3OBY along the Delaware River

CTCSS decoding
6
I am a novice with the DINAH interface. I have it working with a used radio that I picked up cheap, an Icom IC-207H. When I bought this radio I wasn't aware that it did not have the capability of using CTCSS for receiver squelch control. I don't want to run my Allstar node without CTCSS, so is there any other option short of buying another radio? I am going to Dayton so I could look for another radio there. Does anyone have a recommendation for a radio with the 6 pin din connector and CTCSS for recieve? 73, Don K9AQ

using 9600 baud output for Allstar instead of 1200
4
Greetings: Today, I got a cable made up for me that essentially reverses pins 4 and 5 on a standard 6-pin DIN. This basically does the same thing as jumping the 1200/9600 pad on the DINAH, but it's switchable by just replacing the cable. Now, the received audio from my Kenwood TM-V71A sounds much, much better as it is sending flat, after de-emphasizing in SimpleUSB, and using the DCS filter, than the AF-stage filtered 1200 baud. I don't like the steepness of the PL filter, and the DCS filter does the job well enough unless the radio is receiving a really high tone. The TX audio is unchanged, as the radio's data port is still set to 1200. Just a FYI for anyone who wants to improve their RX audio to Allstar, at least with the TM-V71A. I can't speak for other radios, but this should work the same for any radio that sends flat audio on pin 5. 73 N2DYI

DINAH and Alinco DR-735
3
I've been using my DINAH interface with an Alinco DR-735 Dual Band Mobile, and it seemed like all was well. The DINAH and included Mini DIN cable plugs right into the back of the radio, and is nearly plug & play. Enable the radio's internal TNC, and DINAH can talk to the radio just fine. I made a discovery that makes the DR-735 not fit for using as a node radio. The Alinco DR-735 completely ignores any and all CTCSS or DCS settings, and passes the received audio to the TNC, and obviously, to DINAH. If I turn the TNC off, then the DR-735 behaves as it should, and received signals without the proper CTCSS or DCS settings are not passed. Without the TNC enabled in the radio, DINAH can't talk to the radio, so that's a dead end. Back to the drawing board... Peter W2PMS

COMPREHENSIVE LIST OF COMPATIBLE RADIOS?
16
Hi. My subject line says it. Is there a list somewhere of known compatible transceivers, new or used, which are known to work with the Dinah? By "work with", I mean without modifying the Dinah. To ask it another way. My Dinah is plug-and-play with my Kenwood TMV-71A. What other radios are the same? Thanks and 73, Chris VE3RWJ

Getiing about 3,2 Volts on the COS which drops to zero with incoming rx. I have on JP11 1&2 bridged, and 3 & 4 bridged. Any other jumpers require changes from default ?
