Re: Yaesu FT7800 / 7900
You don't RX anything on FT7800 when you Tx your Handheld? Did you enable tones on FT7800. Your FT7800 should Rx a signal from your handy and pass it through DINAH and made your Node TX. On Thu, Feb 15, 2024, 10:11?PM Craig <vk3ncrmail@...> wrote: Hello DINAH users. |

If you call Dinah they will help you with your specific radio. If anything else I'll try to help. On Thu, Feb 15, 2024, 9:11 PM Craig <vk3ncrmail@...> wrote: Hello DINAH users. |
Re: FT8800
Be sure that the miniDIN connector is fully seated into the jack on the FT8800.? I think I had to shave off some of the overmold on the connector on the cable when I set up my DINAH/FT-8800 node.
?
Here is the simpleusb settings I use.
?
Be sure Item L) is set to none
?
Be sure you have the setting correct in the FT-8800 menu for 1200 baud.? Here is an excerpt from the Yaesu manual.

DINAH and FT991A
Hello, I am new to this DIINAH thing.? However, I am familiar with Linux.? I have an intel laptop running all the allstar stuff, connected the DINAH to an FT991.? Have the FT991 set up as -RPTR, with CTC tone.? I have a permanent reconnecting link for allstar to connect to East Coast Reflector.? Now all is going well, and we can receive traffic from ECR just fine.? Keying up a handy, I see the FT991 TX trigger, but using echolink to check, I am not getting tx indications nor audio when transmitting from a handy to the FT991.? So maybe allstar setting for the DINAH is not registering an incoming local transmit?
Any help is greatly appreciated. |

Re: Stumped: Can't use Dinah with 9600 Baud Pin/Kenwood Radio
开云体育FWIW: Because you are only changing the output pin of the radio through
a crossover cable, you shouldn't actually change the radio to 9600
in menu 518, as both output pins are always active. Changing to
9600 only affects the single input pin on the radio, which should
be left at 1200 for optimal use. I don't have one of these adapters, but I do have a cable with the same pins 4 and 5 crossed over, and this isn't necessary. I had a cable made to do this specifically so I didn't have to modify the DINAH itself.

Re: Stumped: Can't use Dinah with 9600 Baud Pin/Kenwood Radio
Did you verify the cable wiring with an ohmmeter?
Did you set the speed to 9600 in the TM-V71's menu 518? Also, you do not need a special cable for DINAH to use 9600.? Just cut the trace between JP1 and JP2.? Short JP3 to JP2 with a solder bridge. |
Stumped: Can't use Dinah with 9600 Baud Pin/Kenwood Radio
开云体育Hi. ? I have a Dinah and a Kenwood TM-V71A. ? I have a couple friends with the same set up who have switched DIN plug pins 4 and 5, and are getting flatter/nicer audio as a result. We all ordered the same adapter cable from Mobilink to do this. ? Two of us are hearing ourselves on Allstar when we transmit into the node radio with an HT. I am not. I have copied all settings: packet sensitivity, SQC, etc. to copy my friend’s, and still nothing. ? I have two TM-V71’s, so I did a full reset on the second one, and copied my friend’s settings for the data port and still, no audio. That rules out a possible problem with one radio’s data port. NOTE: If I crank SimpleUSB menu 2, RX level, all the way up, and turn on RX boost, I can hear myself but very quietly. ? Audio coming the other way, from Allstar is fine. ? What could be the problem? There aren’t many things to adjust here, so I am stumped. ? All suggestions welcome. ? Thanks and 73 ? Chris ? |
Re: Kenwood TM-V7 and CTCSS
开云体育Made a bit of a mistake here: I meant to say SQL when I said CSQ. The default on the TM-V71A/E for COS is BUSY, which is essentially just carrier. It can be changed on this radio to SQL, which is more appropriate, but not on the older Kenwood radios, at least without mods.

Re: Kenwood TM-V7 and CTCSS
开云体育Greetings: The older Kenwoods have COS logic hard-wired to carrier. With radios like the TM-V71 and TM-G710, you can change this in a menu to CSQ. On the TM-V71A/E, this is done in menu 5-2-0. I have the same problem with an older TM-D700A. There is probably a hardware mod for this, but I don't know.
