I also hit the wrong key in the CLI screen.? There was a message that said Verbosity was 3 and is now 4.? How can?I correct that?

Re: FT8800

I have a number roadblocks.

When I key my HT (THF6) to the 8800 with the PI/Dinah, the 8800 keys and then drops after a second or two.

The Pi does not respond to any DTMF input.? It does respond using the CLI command "rpt fun 532071 *80.

I can not connect to any nodes nor can any nodes connect to it (port forwarding is already functioning? on a working node.? Just changed the IP to forward to the Dinah Unit).? Still no connections.

What I have tried.??
  • Cloning a working node (532070) and just changing the node number.? In effect, that's what it will function as.
  • installing a fresh copy of Hamvoip (numerous times) thinking something in the clone is not working properly.??

So if you could?share your settings, that will be a starting point.? ?Thanks for your help.

Re: TM-271a with Paul board - no tx

Update - in case someone else stumbles over this thread.

Got it to work via the front RJ45 connector and the Speaker Port in the back - for now. This will be limited to 1200 but it's a start.

Connected the Radio to a 40db directional coupler -> dummy load and the tap via an additional attenuator to a TinySA. The SA has a FM measurement mode that helps to set the audio levels of the PAUL board correctly. (I've been told that? deviation of 3.2kHz is about right)

And that's about it. Still trying to get it working via the internal pads to get 9600 but at least now I have a working setup.

Thanks to all the chimed in.

Hi Chris,

It's the exact same island and I should be there at the same time. I had a tragic event which occurred with my family here in Canada last June, but I will be back In Barbados for Christmas and New Year with my surviving daughter in tow. I will be back in Canada for a bit but should be in Barbados again during February and March.

You can let me know when you will be there, I will help you in any way I can. I have met many hams from the US and Canada there and we have became friends over the years.

Good Morning Mike and fellow members. I am a Canadian/Caribbean Ham and have been an echolink/IRLP user for a quite a few years. I am fascinated how the digital technology have propelled us to higher and more advanced modes of communication. Here in Canada we have a Fusion repeater system in operation, I would like to use the Dinah USB to incorporate AllStar. I am an electronic tech qho is a bit computer savy but I need a firmware up date, I need re-flashing hihi.

I also have a 2M repeating station in the Caribbean and would like to also use the Dinah USB to enable us to have AllStar there too. I am not familiar with this at all and now looking at building Pi's to configure this, this is all a new entity for me. I am happy with what I have read here and would like to seek guidance from you experts over time.

Cheers.

Re: TM-271a with Paul board - no tx

Hi Michael,

Thanks - no, I don't have a power meter (yet) but I can measure how much power the radio consumes - should give some indication re TX Power.
What I could do is to use a signal generator set to either Mark or Space Tone and slowly increase the output voltage to see if I get the radio to transmit into a dummy. Apparently a nearby HT should pick this up. Power draw from the radio should start to increase eventually.
Question is how hi can I go. I've seen some TNCs going all the way to +/- 4V on their audio output.

Thanks
Marcel

Re: TM-271a with Paul board - no tx

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Regardless of audio level, the HT should see a signal at least when PKS is grounded.

?

Do you have a watt meter to see if the radio is transmitting when PKS is grounded?

Subject: [DINAH] TM-271a with Paul board - no tx

?

Greetings,

I have a PAUL board connected to a Kenwood TM-271a via the internal pads (not the mic/speaker connection)

- RX works, I can decode APRS messages without issue.
- PTT seems to work, at least the radio goes into Busy state (but doesn't show OnAir - not entirely sure if this is correct or not)

TX is where I run into the issue. I can trace the audio signal to the PKD pad of the radio but a nearby HT doesn't pick up any signal.
Windows Sound settings are all at 100% and I turned the Audio out Pot to max signal.

Does anyone know if the PAUL board has enough drive for the internal data connector of the TM-271?
is PTT acting correctly (busy instead of OnAir?)

Thanks

Marcel

Larry, which port did you settle on using?
I am about to add AllStar to one of our clubs dr2x's as well.?

Any struggles that you've come across since putting the system in place?

I have allstar in place on other machines but no fusion repeaters as of yet.?

Dinah looks promising as an alternative device as well. I am about to order one to test out.?
