Our own group knows that song! ?Fear of digital, fear of linking, fear of education, drilling and exercising radio skills and ICS. ?Three guys led the exodus. ?Adios! ?Did my job as EC for me by vetting the non-believers in the mission.
Sometimes, it just all works out. ?The real issue were?the lies. ?Truth came through. ?All fine now.

Actually Club politics got in the way. one of our OCD officers? and a schemer accomplice demanded that the DR2X only be worked on (integrated to ALLSTAR)? at the repeater site on the post and not taken to my workbench full of test equipment, tools, typical ham related component parts inventory that would awe most. The Amateur radio club is under the umbrella of the VFW itself. They contended it was by order of the post commander (like the base commander if you were in the military) and they took it. A few days later I had a meeting with the post commander regarding an exception because I wasn't to drag $3000 worth of test equipment 22 miles and wait till the post opened at 3pm to continue my efforts. Further, I would be able to to on the air testing at my QTH, Whereas testing would require downing a in service active? repeater. At the meeting the Base commander knew nothing of such order to mandate the repeater not leave the site.. Since then other disgusting events have caused the club great turmoil and those 2 are gone and suspicions of embezzlement abound.
Today I have been a ham for 57 years and never have I witnessed such deplorable activities under the color of an organization. I have not participated in that club since then, The DR-2X sits in a box in the radio room and both Vertex VXR-7000's are on the air, only because after one caught on fire, they begged me to take a look at it and like a dumb a$$. I replaced burned PCB traces, part of a wiring harness and a 12 to 5V regulator because who ever they paid to add ALLSTAR and a RPI never fused the 12 volt line to the 5V regulator to power the RPI and DMK URIx. I now have a 3 Amp fuse in it.?
I am a life member of the post, So they keep calling me when they smell smoke or hear beeping (backup UPS battery going dead)? But I have not done a thing with a DR2X since. Because of the turmoil, they are restructuring the club, we'll see after the 1st of the year..
