ID-1 Sensitivity in DD mode
According to Icom's specification of the ID-1, the sensitivity in DD mode is less 1.58uV (at a BER of 1%). With an input impedance of 50 Ohms, converted in dBm, it is -103 dBm. This looks excellent on

Re: ID-1 with Win 7 64 bit
Thank you very much, that did it. Actually, James N0XIA also sent me some info and some files, but the files were not usable. I can also verify that the FTDI 2.08.08 release will work as well as the

Check the history of this thread and you will see that it does work. I had to use the 2.6 version ( I think that is right¡ªone back anyway) of the FTDI driver and the procedure specified in the

I hate to dredge this up again six months later, but has anyone heard or seen anything else on this topic?
It is my understanding that the issue is really with the USB driver and not with the Icom

Re: ID-1 power adjustments
Paul, if you still have a copy of the CD I made about a year ago
you will find the service manual for the ID-1 on it, if not, let me

Re: ID-1 power adjustments
Also should have N connectors on the Bird.
Dummy load should also be rated for 1.2 g.
Every little thing matters at that frequency.
Some coax will not even work. Adapters are a no, no. Pl-259 are

Re: ID-1 power adjustments
Hi Paul,
I am sure you know this, but I will state it anyway- the power out of
the radio is rated into a 50 ohm load. If you are not using a dummy load to determine your output power, you are

Re: ID-1 power adjustments
Another matter to consider, in fact one of the most important, is the cable(s) used to connect raio to bird to load.
I have seen apparent loss of power due to cables / connectors.

Re: ID-1 power adjustments
I suppose one other question is What DC voltage are you providing the radio? 12.0 V, 12.6 V, or 13.8 V? The radio is specified at 13.8 V.
All of my questions might not make any difference, but it

Re: ID-1 power adjustments
Just curious... What sort of load are you going into? What type of connectors on the Bird and load? Are you measuring any reflected power from the load?

ID-1 power adjustments
I have four ID-1 radios and since I have purchased a Bird 10K 10watt, 1.1 to 1.6 Ghz slug, I have found the high power output to range from 3 to 6 watts on each radio.(not even advertised power).

There is a 1200 MHz mobile antenna project

I've been running one on the local 1200 MHz

G'day Joe,
I didn't think too many antennas would like nice after going through a car wash :-)
I'm using a Diamond SG9500N but I'm not keen to test it on the local car wash for you
