Hi Kris, ? I jotted down some notes on things I tried. ?Here are the protocols I tested and the results. ? The connection was solid but I was only getting about 90kps even with a short range. ? Keep in mind there is no error correction in the DSTAR protocol. ?But, in a pinch, it would absolutely be better than ?nothing. ? It worked on 12 watts fairly well in a 3 mile area around my house with the mobile side in my van.?

Jim, Based on your info, I had several setting wrong. I did not have RPS set (0 offset) and in 'yourname' I had 'cqcqcq'. I did see the handshake going this time, but inet connectivity. I'll wait a few days and try it again. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the heads up, Jim! I am toying with the idea of getting a DSTAR repeater stack in the Bayonne/Hoboken area. I was thinking of a 2m or 70cm DV and a 23cm DD/DV stack. Anyway, one can dream.....
Back in April I was able to get my two ID's working together with one anchored to my home internet and the other in my van. I had full inet through a wireless router in my van. It was pretty cool. I had good coverage around Bayonne, but I never tried to see how far I could throw the signal. My roof is not the tallest structure in the area.
If you ever get bored, let me know....maybe we can try some simplex experiments.

In a decade, Digital Smart Technology for Amateur Radio, AKA D-STAR, went from an experiment to a serious Amateur Radio mode used by thousands of Amateur Radio Enthusiasts.
But with raising a pre-teen adolescent comes challenges to life as we know it.
The obsessions, tantrums, rumors and the emotional outbursts; "you just don¡¯t understand me!" are commonly heard in discussions of the JARL Protocol. Parental memories, you got to love them!
With a growth rate of 2,500 new users per month, there are many questions that arise from those who are generally curious about D-STAR, as well as those who are new users.

HamRadioNow.tv Video: Meet Robin Cutshaw AA4RC Co-Inventor of the DVDongle/DVAP
? Meet
Robin Cutshaw AA4RC
Co-Inventor of the DVDongle/DVAP
Robin Cutshaw, AA4RC sat down with?HAMRADIONOW.tv's?KN4AQ for a long conversation about how he discovered D-STAR, found that while it was an advance in Ham Radio technology, there were a few things missing.
And he set out to include them. It began with a few software gimmicks, then morphed into
DPLUS software?that allowed linked repeaters and reflectors, and soon became a growing line of hardware (DVDongle, DVAP, UHF-DVAP).

Re: Reflectors programing of Radio
?
Just take a look at the D-STAR Calculator
Choose local repeater and then Function = Link to Reflector.
?
Reflectors won¡¯t be in the user manual. They don¡¯t exist from Icom¡¯s viewpoint.

Subject: [D-STAR_23cm] Reflectors programing of Radio
?
?
Well the 1.2 is all set up now I just have to input the Reflectors
but I can't see any clear documentation on doing that part and the users manual isn't very clear on it either
Would there be a post that I've missed on here that can Help?
Thank you in advance
Mike
