We are less than one week away from our next live broadcast. Can each of
you help us by copying the announcement below and forwarding it to your

Live D-Star webcast on December 29th.

W5KUB.COM presents a special interactive live video broadcast, "D-STAR
Live", on December 29, 2012 from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM Central time (1600
until 2100 UTC). The live Internet broadcast will feature many D-STAR
topics discussed by Ray Novak, N9JA, of Icom, Robin Cutshaw, AA4RC, creator
of the DVDongle, DVAP and D-Plus, John Davis, WB4QDX, frequent D-STAR
speaker and trainer, and Ed Woodrick, WA4YIH, of DSTARinfo.com and the
D-STAR Calculator.

The broadcast will also host live chat for questions and comments and will
feature a live D-STAR net on the air. Come early and set up your chat room
login if you don't already have one. It¡¯s easy and simple and takes less
than 1 minute. For more information, check out www.W5KUB.com.

I would also like to ask for any pictures of your shack or ham operations
and I will try to get those pictures up on the broadcast either at the
beginning or closing or maybe during any breaks. If you would like to see
your pictures on the broadcast, please send them to pictures@... .

Thanks Jimmy! Plan on taking one of my ID1's to work this coming week and
playing with these settings. Its about 17 miles from Martinsville, but I
have access to the roof tops which should help. At 12 watts I think I
should hit the repeater. I'll let you know how I make out.

unless you are using d-star settings you MUST NOT have your computer ip

if all is right so far you turn on the rig go to the channel, make sure
the mode is DD and txinhib is off

disable any wireless on the computer.

unplug the cat5 cable from your router to your computer.

reboot your computer.

then plug the cat5 cable from the id 1 into your computer.

if all is well you should see the power lcds flashing power in & out. if
so you are hand shaking with nj2dg

you should be able to browse the net at a slow pace if all is good

I have set up a wireless router with the id 1
using the d-star static infomation email me and ill give you that info

Hey it worked. I was very lucky, after the storm, I only lost power
for three days. My cable (internet) also down. It looks like all the
batteries in the green amp boxes up on the poles were dead. My 3g/4g sprint
device was also down. My last resort 1.2ghz DD. A real big thank you to the
guys at NJ2DG, Martinsville NJ. Sure I couldent surf the net but the
connection worked fine for email and facebook. Using a cradlepoint wireless
access point. My wife (kb2eyn) my self (ka2oon) and my daughter were all
able to stay connected, sending and receiving welfare reports.
Other things like, generator, patch type TV antenna, made the
aftermath no big deal, for us here.
