Re: Interested in a 23cm D-STAR Net?

Moderator's Note: I announced that net a few months ago and was told that the organizers of the net were not looking for new participants.

Hi,

for those who are interested in 23cm D-Star operations, the original long
standing ID-1 net is currently running on REF014A.

The ID-1 net is held most Sunday mornings, although it runs up to 09:00 PDT
so the West coast 23cm users can join in too.

Re: Interested in a 23cm D-STAR Net?

I think this is a great idea; we only have?three ?23cm users in the NW Louisiana area but i am sure we would all check in to the net.? I personally have 2 nets on tues evening and 2 nets on thurs evenings so another day of the week or weekend would be my suggestion.? weekly or bi weekly maybe more than once a month i would think.? I am sure all 3 of us here would be willing to call the net....we each have experience doing so.? 73

Re: Interested in a 23cm D-STAR Net?

Here's a thought:

There are many HF nets, some national in scope, some international in scope. Why not have local/national nets, and international nets to discuss activities, design ideas, bugs, hints, kinks, etc? That way those who might want to lose sleep to visit with folks in other parts of the planet can do so, and the rest of the local folks who value their rest can participate in local nets when they choose?

That way everyone can find something they want.

I disagree. I'm sure the net has appeal outside the US, most likely
a US-Europe net would eventuate. This means it would need to be held
on a weekend at a mutually convenient time for the participants.

First thing to do would be to canvass the group for interest,
including where interested parties are.

You won't get everyone (for example, US-Europe windows are a poor
time here), but I'm sure you'll get interest outside the US.

\

Because work hours take out most of the day on weekdays for most people, and a common window barely fits across the US on weekdays, let alone the Atlantic.

Interested in a 23cm D-STAR Net?

The 23cm D-STAR group is less than 6 months old & we already have over 285 members?
including members who are very experienced using D-STAR on 23cm and are a great resource.?

We're considering starting a periodic 23cm D-STAR net using a local D-STAR reflector.?

The purpose of the net would be for 23cm D-STAR users to get to know each other &?
discuss using D-STAR on 23cm, including using DD (High-Speed Data) and applications.?

In order to facilitate the net D-STAR repeaters & DV Dongle users would connect to the reflector.?

If you have interest in a 23cm D-STAR net please let me know your preference for:?

- Day of Week

- Time?

- Frequency of Net (i.e. Weekly or Bi-Monthly, Monthly, etc.)?

Please also indicate if?you'd be interested in periodically handling net control.?

Once I receive some feedback I will send out another update about the possibility of a net.?

In the meantime, be sure to review the Files & Links section of the group?
as there are dozens of Files & Links?not only about 23cm D-STAR,?
but all aspects of D-STAR technology.?

Illinois D-STAR Net Time Change, Wednesdays @ 9 pm on Illinois D-STAR Reflector REF001B

Recently reflector REF001B was made available for use primarily by Illinois D-STAR users & repeaters.?

We subsequently scheduled a?state-wide Illinois D-STAR net at 8 pm on Wednesday nights using reflector REF001B.?

However, we recently learned a Central Illinois D-STAR net has also recently begun on Wednesday nights at 9 pm using reflector REF001B.?

So in order to increase state-wide D-STAR activity we have decided to move the new Illinois D-STAR net to 9 pm and?
incorporate it into the Central Illinois D-STAR net?so we?have one state-wide Illinois D-STAR net each week.?

Milt, K9QZI has been the net control of the Central Illinois D-STAR net & will continue to be the net control of the state-wide Illinois D-STAR net at 9 pm.?

Over time we will likely need others to assist with net control. I plan to be also be available on the net as often as possible.?

We also encourage Illinois D-STAR users & repeaters to periodically connect to Illinois Reflector REF001B over the course of the week?
in order to increase local D-STAR activity and allow D-STAR users in Illinois to connect with each other.?

Subject: [IllinoisD-STAR] Illinois D-STAR Reflector Channel REF001B Announcement

As many of you know, in many areas D-STAR reflectors are used to link repeaters together and?
provide a common place for repeater users & DV-Dongle users to communicate with each other.?

The FRRL (Fox River Radio League) in the western suburbs of Chicago operates?
D-STAR 2m & 70cm repeaters and hosts D-STAR reflector REF001.?

Kermit, W9XA, technical coordinator of the FRRL D-STAR system & reflector has indicated?
REF001B reflector channel is available for primary use as the Illinois reflector.?

REF001B will provide a way for Illinois D-STAR users to communicate with each other on an ongoing basis.?

REF001B reflector can be used by both Illinois D-STAR repeaters & DV Dongle users to connect with each other.?

It is hoped that D-STAR repeater owners in Illinois will connect their appropriate repeaters to REF001B?
either on a full-time or periodic basis.?

REF001B will also be used to conduct the weekly Illinois D-STAR net at 8 pm on Wednesday nights and?
we encourage repeater owners to connect their repeaters to REF001B at that time as well.?

For more information about D-STAR in Illinois the Illinois D-STAR group was created?to?
facilitate communication among D-STAR users and?can be accessed at:?

Re: ID-1 Driver for Windows 7

Have you tried running the software in the "compatible" mode? Some run their XP programs that way when they won't run with Vista/7. I run XP now, but when I had Vista I ran several programs in the "compatible" mode, and they worked fine that way. I believe it's an option when you right click the program icon and choose preferences..

Might give it a try.
