Hey everyone, I know everyone from one group or another so I got a couple of new guys:
The Old Man (because every RP needs an old bear) :?
And the Young Buck (also the fourth in the relationship with Ella, Rosalind, and Orlando):
So before I just throw them into someone thread, anyone want to call dibs for this game day? Don't worry I can always find an excuse for why my char is looking for yours if your brain immediately fires up "they have nothing in common". But I thought I would ask before just barreling my way into someone's thread...

"So if you want, I can let ya see where you're gonna be sleeping and also where you're gonna be working?" he then offered. "Yes, sir...Aury...that way I can put my gear there."?? She indicated the saddlebags that were slung over her shoulder.?? "And of course, where I'm workin'."?? She just hoped that everything she would need would be there.?? "And I'd appreciate a small bit to eat first, if you've a mind."?? Offering a cheeky grin, she added, "Can get more work done with a bit of fuel, right?"?? It would most assuredly help, and she could get more done, but if he turned her down, she'd just deal with it and do the best she could.

"Growing them sounds like a fine project. I wish I had a green thumb but plantlife and I do not seem to get along," she smiled.
"Although if your crops are bountiful enough, I could see myself being interested in some, providing we can come to a deal," Mirriam added then shrugged her shoulders, "Although I should not rush you. You have to have a crop first, right?"
"By the way, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Mirriam, Mirriam Starbright," she declared.

He waited then as she seemed to be mulling it over, this his offer of food and board for the brick making. He thought it quite fair and had no intention of sweetening the terms should she refuse. But the young woman was sensible as she made up her mind.
"Deal."? She stuck out her hand, then added, "I'm Bettina, thank you, sir, for th' help."
He then flashed one of his charming smiles as he extended his hand too and engaged in a hearty shake, "Deal it is then! Nice to meet you, Bettina. I'm Aurelian but most folk call me Aury. Almost no one calls me 'sir'. So stick to Aury."
"So if you want, I can let ya see where you're gonna be sleeping and also where you're gonna be working?" he then offered.

Devon: There was a relaxation to be found in watching Rosalind prepare the tea. And Hanami was just a place that Devon associated with peace and calm. He came here on Da's worst days, usually for just a couple of hours and a cup of tea. Today, however, Rosalind's offer was very tempting. Devon knew he'd pay tomorrow, if he didn't manage to un-knot himself.

"I will admit that I'm considering the massage. And even the aromatherapy," Dev said.

¡°Please do, you will have an easier night if you allow me to smooth those knots out of your neck and back,¡± Rosalind said, giving him a warm, lingering smile before wandering back to? the tea. For a few moments, she busied herself combining the ingredients, and measuring up water. The end result was a mug of steaming hot tea, and a scent of sage wafting through the air.?
¡°Here you go,¡± she said, offering it to him, much as though he was a guest in her home. ¡°How about we go into the garden? I can give you a shoulder massage and you can decide whether you want to come inside with me for a full massage,¡± she said, and gave his cheek a light pat once he¡¯d taken the mug. ¡°You won¡¯t regret it.¡±

"That sounds like a wonderful idea," Aidan said. "And you know she'd be happy to collaborate on that. It would be nice to have tangible records of dishes like to some of our most important memories. Like that congee you brought me that second spring I was here in Brea, when I got horribly sick."
Aidan chuckled and rested his head on Sinjin's shoulder. "Do you know, that was it for me. That's when I realized that I'd gone and fallen in love with you. And yes, I know it took me forever to do something about it. I'm so very lucky you didn't give up on me."

Starla maintained her own garden, and cultivated plants specifically for her own tea blends. ¡°As far as what I¡¯m looking for... I just want some companionship that is capable of independence. I¡¯m busy so much, but a small body willing to accept some scratches... That sounds lovely.¡±

As the time for her appointment neared Ella made her final checks on the cats; checking they were in a relaxed and happy mood and that she had a tin full of treats and toys at the ready. Satisfied with the selection of cats and their mood she left the room and walked through Hanami to greet Starla.
Upon spying her she smiled a welcoming and fond smile,
¡°Welcome to Hanami, Starla, it is good to see you here.¡± Ella approached her hands clasped and held loosely in front of her, ¡°Have you a chance to peruse the menu? We have a fine tea selection, all brewed from plants found in the gardens here and I believe there are freshly baked scones and lavender infused cakes available today.¡± She gestured for Starla to follow her through to the tea bar and as they walked she set out the agenda for Starla¡¯s approval.
¡°Before I take you up, I would like some time to discuss what you are looking for and what I can do to help facilitate that. Once the tea is made and we have talked I will take you up into the imaginatively named cat room. Is that agreeable?¡±

"Fifty? That ain't all that many. But here's the thing.....I don't expect you'll get it all done in one go of it. If it takes you four five days, that's alright with me long as I see good progress. In the meantime, I will feed you and even let you sleep here overnight....assuming you don't piss off your roommate. She's got herself a good sized bed though, can easily fit two," Aurelian sweetened the offer. Silent for now, Bettina listened to his offer and terms, pleased and a little relieved that he included board, even if that did involve sharing a bed.? And he was offering a few days, time, she hoped, that she could have a chance to check out the town and look for better work than playing in the mud! "Oh as for the number of bricks, I was thinking about....hundred or so minimum," he opined, "no big deal once you get the hang of it." Well, that sort of depended on the equipment available, but when he doubled her single day estimate of fifty to a hundred in four days, she reckoned as she could easily do that, although by nature, she wouldn't shirk, and could likely double what he was asking for. "Deal."? She stuck out her hand, then added, "I'm Bettina, thank you, sir, for th' help."

Cai followed behind Anna listening attentively; Anna wasn¡¯t much of a talker so when she spoke Cai listened carefully. She could empathise with the other woman¡¯s frustration. More and more predators were coming through the barrier and they were ill equipped to deal with them. They were growing bolder or more desperate, Cai wasn¡¯t sure, but her traps were catching them closer and closer to the force field.
Years ago she would need to go further into the Out There to catch anything. Now she barely needed to step outside. It worried her, but she couldn¡¯t say she was upset with the additional meat on her table or furs to trade with. The people in town liked to ignore the Out There, they wouldn¡¯t want to hear it if Cai started talking about the barrier failing and the increase in animals coming through.
¡°I will talk to him about some lethal counter measures as well. It would be better for all if something was in place before the barrier falls. I would ask him to look at the barrier itself but no one knows where it is controlled from.¡± That annoyed her to no end. No one, not even travellers from other cities, knew anything about the force field, where it was powered from or where it was controlled from.
Stepping into the cutting room Cai dumped her kills and took a look at the screes; there was enough meat on them to make it worthwhile butchering, ¡°Thanks, these will be a good addition.¡± She smoothed her hands over them, examining them with dispassion her fingers slowing over the ribcage and stomach,
¡°They weren¡¯t starving,¡± she observed, ¡°this is a problem. If they were starving then this would be an act of desperation. The Out There has a cold season where nothing grows. Starving during this period is natural. If they are coming through when the hunting is good then they are expanding their hunting grounds and this won¡¯t stop. Damn,¡± she dropped the carcass and cursed under her breath, ¡°I was hoping this would just be temporary during their cold season.¡±

¡°Thanks. I am going to try and grow them,¡± he offered up, his version of an olive branch, ¡°my neighbour is going to help me. They really like to be self-sufficient here.¡±

Sinjin mocked sniffed in indignation, ¡°Cooking is a science, baking is witchcraft. I follow the recipes to the letter and they still don¡¯t work! Either the recipes are wrong, all of them, or there is some kind of magic involved. It is the only explanation!¡±
It had rankled a little bit early on, it had felt like a personal failing, but he would soon came to accept that baking just wasn¡¯t his thing. Even bread eluded him on occasion. It was better to stick with what he was good at and what he enjoyed.
¡°I wish you good fortune in your endeavour and I will support you by staying out of the kitchen and eating all the sweet things you bring home. Starla¡¯s apple cake is truly delicious. I was wondering if she might collaborate with us and write down some of our favourite recipes? I realized I have committed many to heart and I think it would be better for all if there was a record of them somewhere. What do you think?¡±

Aurelian had to chuckle at her offer to poison someone with her cooking but waved his hand in dismissal, "Nah, when I took over this place we had a cook here like that and first thing I did is kicked him out. Old lady Harper is actually a fine cook so I already got me one. However, I might have a simple enough job for you, but worth a meal to me." "Really?"? She raised an eyebrow, trying not to look too eager, but it had been a couple days since she'd had a full meal, and she was relieved that he was going to help her out. "I have been replacing a few bricks recently but ran out and was fixing on making me some more. If you're willing to play in the mud with your hands and don't mind getting a bit dirty, you can make me adobe bricks. I can show you how then you gotta do it." "Adobe?"? Seriously?? That was hard, dirty work, and it would take a very long time to mix the sludge, form the bricks and dry them in any number that was useful, not to mention materials and space.? And although she knew how make them, she'd let the man show her exactly what she wanted.
"Deal?" he raised one eyebrow.
No...not exactly... "How many?"? She assuredly didn't want to strike a deal then find out he wanted 300!? "Fifty," she answered her own question, not sure that she would negotiate beyond that.

Bettina watched as the man approached her, seeing his confidence, perhaps even a bit of arrogance, but then, he belonged here and has his place in society, he had no reason to be anything but confident.?? Still, there was a kindness to him, and his manner put her at ease.?? Maybe she'd have some luck here. "Yes, sir, you can!"?? Bettina's reply was accompanied by a bright smile.?? "Or rather, I can help you...maybe."?? So, there was that shade of uncertainty under the bravado!?? "Just about anything here needs fixin', I can fix...orrrr....if there's some folks here ya'd rather not have as customers, I can cook for 'em, and I can 'bout promise they'll never come back."??
