Food for All (Sinjin, Open) 8 #Love-StJohn #23September3342 #Bettina-Davies
Date: 23/09 Time: Early evening Location: Brea town centre Characters: Sinjin, Open, Bettina Hanna’s head popped up above the general bustle of the food production line. She saw a young woman calling out about a delivery. Pushing her way through the throng of people she called out in return, “Hello, luv. A delivery?” That was not her area. Looking around she spotted Sinjin, the newly showered and primped Sinjin. With a playful smirk she waved her arms to get his attention and bellowed out; “Sinjin! Sinjin luv! Delivery!” She hollered the last word super loudly, loudly enough to grab Sinjin’s attention and the attention of several people around her. Shrugging the attention off she patted the woman on her shoulder, “He’ll be over in a moment, luv. He will help you out. There is some fresh lemonade being made, go grab yourself a drink afterwards,” she sent her a wink before disappearing back into the bustle of people. Sinjin jogged over after being called. He approached Bett at a lope, a bit out of breath as he slowed down, “Hi, delivery?” he had seen her around but couldn’t place her “I’m Love St.John, Sinjin, I am organising the food for the festival.” Tag

#OOC Setting & Technology #OOC
Hi everyone! One of the areas that has caused the most confusion about the setting is technology This is one of the things we want to get written up and sorted out as quickly as possible as it does impact the roleplay and the characters I want to get an idea of everyone’s interpretation on this – what do you envision the technology is like, the level of technology, the everyday technology etc I know this is a hard question and I want to assure you there are no right or wrong answers as this is going to help us clarify the setting and get us all on the same page I interpreted the setting as an egalitarian farming society with a mishmash of technology; some advance, some contemporary, and some more rudimentary. To pick a very mundane example there would be central heating/air conditioning in the original buildings that would be controlled from a computer like panel. However, any extensions or new builds would not have this technology so would rely on fires or opening windows. I would also like to know what kind of world you want to play in – more technology, less technology, weapons … I don’t really know, just let your imagination go wild All of this will be really helpful for us! You can comment below or email us Thanks!

Delicious Food and Romance Novels 12 #Rosalind-Tremaine #23September3342 #James-Malcolm-Cobbs
Date: 23/09 Time: Early evening Location: Brea town centre Characters: Rosalind, open ------------------------------------------------------------ Rosalind meandered past the fire, pulling her new coat tighter around her to avoid it getting caught in the flames. Nova and Bibi had outdone themselves with her dress. The fur Nova had used to line it was apparently a brand new thing and it was all Bibi to thank for finding a way to make it soft. And soft it was, silky as a kitten’s fur against her skin, keeping her warm as the air cooled. She fought the urge to run her finger along it and instead clutched her book a bit tighter. It was by her grandfather, naturally, and she had thought that it could serve as entertainment either for her or to read for an appropriately adult crowd when the children were sleeping. The whiff of food stopped her in her tracks, and without thinking much about it, turned to follow the delicious scent to where it might be leading, humming under her breath as she did, and distracted enough to not notice the person stepping into her path before she all but collided with them, her book dropping to the ground with a soft thud. The Grendel Monster (Sebastian, Open) 8 #23September3342 #Sebastian-Lionheart #Virgil-Nicholas-Sesto
Date: 23/09 Time: Early evening Location: Brea town centre Characters: Sebastian, open A little way away from the large sleeping tent, that was mostly constructed, was a medium sized fire pit surrounded by stones, the fire starting to burn merrily. It wasn’t huge, about the size for 15 people to cluster around it in a circle. There were standing lights dotted around the area, lighting up the area and making the fire more for heat and aesthetics than for light. Sebastian was wrapped in several blankets and sitting in an overstuffed chair set as close to the fire as possible without it actually being in the fire. He was already overheating; he didn’t have the heart to tell his grandchildren that he really did not need this much looking after. They had looked at him so earnestly as they tucked blankets and shawls around him, constantly asking him if he were comfortable. He wasn’t that old! Thank you very much. He cradled a cup of hot coffee, with a secret splash of bathtub moonshine, bringing it up to his lips he inhaled the aroma enjoying the slightly sour smell the alcohol brought. He was the story teller for the night. That was his contribution. The only rule was that it was suitable for children which unfortunately meant the majority of his original works were out. He sniffed at the snub. They had absolutely no imagination! No romance! So, to keep those more conservative members of the community happy he had decided to recite Beowulf. It was a classic tale of heroism, epic battles, monsters, and hyper masculine men having inappropriate thoughts about female monsters. It was a tale everyone had heard before. Sebastian had some plans to make it spectacular, a few tricks and sound effects should help liven it up and make it truly a story to remember. Open tag

Some Good Customer Relations (Aurelian, Open) 4 #23September3342 #Aurelian-Stroud #Elowen-Clay
Date: 23/09 Time: Early evening Location: Brea town centre Characters: Aurelian, Open Well, everyone was trying to do their part to make this celebration a truly successful and enjoyable one so Aurelian felt he needed to do his part too. Normally his customers would be coming to him, drinking and gambling in his saloon. But on this cool evening, he had gone thru the work and trouble to set up a small makeshift bar (really just a two by four laid on top of a small tables) to pass out free samples of his liquor and beer. Granted, his regulars knew the quality and the tastes already but who knows maybe he would pick up some new customers once they tried his merchandise this evening. He let Mirriam have the night off too, no piano (he wasn't about to drag that heavy thing outside) so no entertainment. She could wander about then and enjoy herself. Of course as some folks came up for a sample, Aurelian put on his best customer relations persona and chatted amiably with them. He could be a real charmer when he wanted to alright. TAG: Open

Inked (Eir, Open) 5 #Nova-Jane #23September3342 #Eir-Asp
Date: 23/09 Time: Early evening Location: Brea town centre Characters: Eir, open “One …two…three,” Eir mumbled to herself as she counted the bottles of ink she had brought with her. “Six,” she muttered, “six. Where is seven?” She started to look around her stall, moving things out of the way, checking underneath, the movements were clean and controlled even as her mind was frantically recalling the events of the day. “Where is number seven. Number seven.” Standing up, hands on hips, her chin jutted forward in frustration and determination she looked at her neighbouring stalls, “You guys seen a bottle of ink? Vibrant purple.” They both glanced around their stalls then shook their head. Eir slumped in defeat, “Ok, thanks! If you do spot it, don’t open it. It will stain your fingers for weeks.” She waggled her own purple stained fingertips at them with a wry smile. She had worked with the inks for years and still managed to stain herself. It was a little bit embarrassing. “Ok!” she counted each bottle again, placing it exactly where she wanted them. The stall was a simple wooden table with two chairs next to it. There were papers artfully displayed that showed the possible designs people could have done. Her pen and cartridges were all stashed away safely until her first customer showed up. It was her first year doing ink tattoos and she was excited; she had only recently relocated to Brea and she was eager to integrate herself into the community as firmly as she could. This was her way of showing what she could do and how she could contribute to the community. She was already making plans to expand her dyeing to clothes and fabrics, maybe even paints or wood stains if she could figure it all out. Art was her passion; she loved tattooing permanent and semi-permanent artwork onto people but practical things would be more helpful to those around her. She wished art could be appreciated for art’s sake but she was pragmatic. Her plan was to offer the temporary ink tattoos for a few hours while there was still some light and the outside lighting was sufficient for the detailed work. Then she was going to go exploring. Tag

Food for All (Sinjin, Open0 #Love-StJohn #23September3342 #Bettina-Davies
While she had been to Equinox festivals before, none had been as big as this, and Bettina was excited for the coming festivities, and especially the food! Sure, what she got at Hanami was great, certainly better than anything she could have made herself, but the variety that was rumored to be available tonight really had her intrigued, and she hadn't even eaten breakfast so that she'd have all the more room for the good stuff! The better part of her day had been hauling freight and people. The stable where she kept Dobbin had a wagon, and she had borrowed that so she could go around to some of the outlying farms and ferry in folks, as well as gathering blankets, mats and chairs for the sleeping tent as well as some of the food supplies. Now, though, as the beginning of the festivities neared, she was on her last run, all she had to do was deliver this last load of supplies, then she could get Dobbin settled in his stall, get herself cleaned up and join in the fun and feasting! After leaving the wagon parked on a side street, she hopped from the seat and trotted over to the main food booth. "Hey!" she called out, smiling as she breathed in the wonderful aromas, "I have a delivery for someone here..."

Food for All (Sinjin, Open) #Love-StJohn #23September3342
Date: 23/09 Time: Early evening Location: Brea town centre Characters: Sinjin, Open Sinjin wiped his sweaty forehead down with a towel before flipping it over his shoulder in a well-practiced move. It was hot work managing the food production for the equinox. He had many helpers and they were all as equally sweaty and red in the face as he was which his ego was gratified to see. “Hanna! Hanna!” he waved over a portly woman in her mid-fifties, her greying hair was pulled into a severe bun and her face was bright and shiny as she huffed over to him. “This is nearly done,” he informed her, indicating the bubbling pot of chilli he was standing over. She nodded vigorously and let out a bellow, summoning several young men from amidst the crowd. Sinjin grinned as her sons listened attentively to their mother and followed her orders with precision and care. “Looks like you have everything handled.” The food was pretty much done, there were the odd bits still cooking waiting to be served later on in the night. The sweets were all hidden away from prying fingers. He was particularly excited to see them revealed later on as he was immensely proud of his own contribution. “I will keep coming by and checking up. Yell if you need help. I won’t be far.” With her quick nod, Sinjin headed out into the cool night air. It was much colder outside the heat of their makeshift kitchen. It was a relief and he took a moment to savour it, wiping down his neck and forehead before heading towards the grocers. It was a quick trip; a shower, a change, and he was ready for the evening. Though it was still early the town centre was bustling. Lights were everywhere giving a welcoming amber glow, there were the odd heater and fire pit to warm up if necessary, the stalls were set up and he could see that the large sleeping tent had nearly been constructed. A well of excitement filled his chest and he grinned widely; this was one of his favourite times of year. Tag

20/19 - Go Where The Guitar Takes You (OPEN) 26
Date: 20/09 Time: Early Evening Location: Outside of Hanami Characters: Virgil/OPEN Virgil had done all his chores, and even a few odd jobs for the day to bargain for things like a loaf of fresh baked bread. He had stopped at Paradise because he heard Stroud needed some adobe bricks done, but there was already someone out back at it. So he was sitting outside now after cleaning up so he wouldn't disturb patrons or one of his partners while they worked. He was plucking out a tune on his guitar with a beat up old leather bound book that he was scratching out a song on the parchment. Virgil was trying to think of something nice to play for the Autumn Equinox, not the same old same old. Chewing on the dried stem of a mushroom he let the chemicals in the fungus get him just high enough to relax. Too much and he would be seeing ghosts or whatever was locked in the recesses of his head. Tossing the remnants of the stem into a pocket, Virgil plucked out his tune and mumble out some worlds feeling pretty good... He sure could go for some quiet company. Done In// #Mirriam-Redmond; 15 #Bettina-Davies
Date: 20/09 Time: Late Evening Location: Paradise Characters: Bettina/Mirriam While she was no stranger to hard work, and certainly not adverse to it, making bricks was labor-intensive and tedious,by the time Bettina decided it was time to stop for the day she was sore and exhausted, although she had managed to meet her self-imposed quota of bricks for the day. She was filthy and famished, but even so, she still had to check on her horse and get cleaned up before she went upstairs to the room she shared with Miss Mirriam. At least she was able to get most of the muck off and change clothes so the other woman wouldn't be offended, and as she headed upstairs, she munched on a hunk of bread that she had stashed from her earlier meal -- she wasn't sure if the terms of work allowed for dinner. And since she was essentially a guest, she knocked on the door to the shared room and waited, hoping that Mirriam hadn't changed her mind.

don't be glum/tag Paradise, Open 27 #20September3342 #Aurelian-Stroud #Bettina-Davies
Date: 20/09 Time: Midday Location: Paradise Characters: Bettina/Open Pausing for a moment to look at her reflection in the window, Bettina wrinkled her nose up at the smudge thereon, then rubbed away the dirt with her sleeve. She had done the best she could under the circumstances to clean up, but circumstances hadn't been all that good! She'd only just arrived in town an couple hours ago, and her first task had been to find food and shelter for her horse, an ancient dapple grey beast that was about all she had left of her past, at least with her. There were some things in storage at what used to be the family store in Stob, but she had pretty much decided that she would never see those trinkets again. Of course, she had the most precious things stuffed in with her scant clothing in the saddle bags slung over her shoulder. With a wry grin, she shook her head. After spending the better part of two hours mucking stalls in exchange for board for Duke, she'd done the best she could to clean herself up with the pitcher of water that the stable owner had provided, and she could only hope that she didn't stink like the stalls she'd been working in, and that she could find some sort of work to do in exchange for, at very least, a meal for herself. Taking a breath, she pushed open the doors, unconsciously brushing her hands along the legs of her coveralls as she walked across the room to the bar, where she found a spot as far away from the patrons as she could while she waited to be acknowledged.

20/09 - An Afternoon of Ease (Devon/Open) 11 #20September3342 #Devon-Bellflower #Rosalind-Tremaine
Date: 20/09 Time: Mid-Afternoon Location: Hanami Characters: Devon Devon let his eyes adjust to the relatively low lighting in Hanami once he'd ducked into the building and close the door behind him. His slouch was more emphasized today than usual - some of the public areas of Hanami had that effect on him. He felt overly tall, like his head would brush the ceiling. He made his way to the tea bar, deciding that he'd have an herbal tea in an effort to find a measure of relaxation. He'd spent the morning chopping firewood for the family house, in quantities enough to satisfy his father. Da was having it rough that morning - he'd woken with a merciless migraine, and it had made him snappish and angry. Devon's mother and sister had escaped to a neighbor's for lunch, leaving Devon to bear the brunt of Da's displeasure. Devon didn't mind on a typical day like this. Da would usually snap out a few demands for work to be done and then go back to his darkened bedroom to wait for the migraine to ease. Today, Da had felt the need to fight through part of it, and had ended up saying some cutting things about Devon's lack of effort to find a partner and have grandchildren to whom the family craft of carpentry could be taught. Which wouldn't have been a big deal either, but Da had then insinuated that he needed those grandchildren because Dev's skill wasn't up to par. Only the knowledge that Da was being driven by the pain kept Devon from lashing back at his father. So when Da finally headed back to bed, Devon kept chopping wood, and when he couldn't add another stick to their stock, had gone and started in on a table that had been ordered. He'd managed to work off his irritation and anger, but then his muscles had protested the abuse. So Dev had washed up, changed into clothes that didn't smell of sweat and sawdust, and made his way to Hanami. At the tea bar, Devon reviewed the herbal teas on offer - they changed with the seasons and whatever was available - and decided on sage chamomile tea. It wouldn't make him tired, but it should help his muscles relax. TAG

20/09 - Sorta Chicken Dinner (Cai, Open) 6 #20September3342 #Anna-Crane #Cai-Mordecai
Date: 20/09 Time: Early afternoon Location: Crane farm Characters: Cai It had been a successful hunting trip into the Out There and Cai wore her trophies slunk over her shoulder, some inside a thick canvas haversack and some strung together and slunk over her shoulder. Her traps had taken a few blooms, screes, a few that looked like long, wrung out rabbits, and another creature she had not yet named that had delicious meat when roasted. It looked similar to blooms but a little larger and darker with blunt claws and stubby snouts. Her bow and throwing daggers had downed a few birds, even a few tree gerbil like creatures. It was a decent haul. The pelts were so so. Blooms coats were waterproof and insulted against the cold, a few more and she would have enough to make a coat or something to protect her when hunting. The rest were mostly soft, though the bloomesque creature’s pelt was coarse and a little prickly. She didn’t know what she would do with that. The meat would be worth the hassle though. Ella with her cats would take any offal or off cuts she had, Sinjin at the market would take well cut pieces, she could scrap the bone marrow from the bones for stock or soup, keep a little meat to freeze for the future, the possibilities were endless. She just had to butcher first. Mordecai farm had not been designed with butchery in mind. There was a small amount of space in the kitchen for domestic butchery; a chicken or maybe a rabbit, nothing on the scale that Cai needed. Thankfully her neighbour, Anne Crane, had such a facility and they had come to an agreement over its usage. Approaching the farm she gave out a loud whistle quickly followed by: “Anyone home?” Tag

20/09 - Wild Meadow (Sinjin, Open) 12 #20September3342 #Aidan-Martell #Love-StJohn
Date: 20/09 Time: Noon Location: Wild meadow outside town Characters: Sinjin A mile or so outside of the centre of Brea was a little wild meadow; it had no name, it wasn’t really anything worth name, just a field that had been left to go wild. There were tall grasses punctuated by bright flowers, bushes with fruit and trees that provided shade in the hot summer months. With autumn approaching the meadow looked a little sadder; less colour, and more brackish twigs and branches showing through the leaves as they began to turn. Sinjin loved it; it was his absolute favourite place to go, in all weathers and all seasons. From out of his backpack he pulled a bright aluminium coloured blanket – it was something left over from the colonists, weather proof, insulted, used in extreme temperatures, but Sinjin used it as his picnic blanket. He spread it out on the ground and sat on it, toeing off his shoes so he could sit crossed legged. Out of the bag came a sealed container, some utensils, and a metal cantina of water. He was going to enjoy his lunch break; the store was covered, he had no planned deliveries, and if the weather held off the rain then he was going to enjoy his homemade goat curry and rota with the beautiful view in front of him. 20/09 - A Tale of Tea and Cats (Starla tags Ella) 5 #20September3342 #Elowen-Clay #Starla-Brightburn
Date: 20/09 Time: Late Morning Location: Hanami Characters: Starla Starla had been slowly getting to Hanami that day, despite the basket of fresh baked bread, dried herbs and flowers that she carried. As was her habit, Starla had a short conversation with everyone she came across, checking in on them and their family with the sort of gentle warmth that made most people comfortable sharing. Of course, keeping her fingers on the pulse of the community was how Starla felt connected to everyone in Brea, without having a family unit of her own. In Hanami, Starla indicated that she was scheduled to meet with Ella. Starla wanted tea in the company of a cat, and she was considering allowing a cat into her home. Starla wanted company, but not the sort of company that needed her all the time, like a dog would. A cat would be happy to share her space without always needing to be in it. Ella would be the best person to help Starla figure out which cat, if any, would become Starla's companion. TAG

Autumn Equinox #OOC
Ok, whenever we decide to jump we will be jumping to the autumn equinox festivities You can find out more information about here: https://sites.google.com/view/cabeiriprime/setting/feasts-and-celebrations/autumn-equinox The residents of Brea are expected to contribute to the festivities in any way they can. It does not matter how big or how small For example someone could provide some ingredients for a dish or offer to sing during the celebration It is about bringing the community together to celebrate, sharing, and also mourning I want to give people time to think about what their characters will contribute, whether they want to set anything up such as Eir giving temporary tattoos or Ella thrusting cuddly cats on everyone This will also give you time to get together and plot. You don’t have to be involved in the main threads; you can go off and do your own thing Jo
