Re: CQ WW VHF Recipe

Hi Scott
FYI
I just went to the reflector files and dragged the new CQ VHF file over and I will show you two screen shots. Also I do not see it in the CC when I open it. Could be operator error!

Dear Scott
Thanks for your work in making Cab Converter have the flexibility to accommodate so many contests.

I just used your new recipe and just to let you know, it will need a little tweaking. It wasn’t a problem for me as the CQ Robot told me what it didn’t like or didn’t see and it gave me a chance to make the corrections on the page they provided.

Here is the final report they sent me after my cabrillo was accepted. You will see a few things that need to be changed/inserted, like 6 instead of 50 for band, number of transmitters, etc.

I will let you take it from here. And thanks for all you do!

I have not seen one in the files, so if someone could possibly write a recipe for this contest I and others would be very grateful.?

The rule differences between the CQ VHF. and ARRL VHF contests are enough to create a separate recipe. From my low level knowledge perspective, the capture is close if not identical, but the classes of operation are?completely?different.?

Re: RSGB VHF Contests

So,?I have contacted my friend who knows about the RSGB contests and to quote:

On VHF it is vanishingly rare for people to need more than 3 figures for?serials!
And so far as I know we use genuine cabrillo format - however, on VHF and up?
the preferred entry format is Reg1Test.
I can see the uploaded logs, and they do include Cabrillo.

The comment about 3 figure serials is because the spacing by default allows for 5. And to be pedantic, it’s 6 alphanumeric characters for locator.

I don’t expect us to produce Reg1Test format (well not yet), since RSGB are still accepting Reg1Test
He is asking for a cabrillo log that was rejected by the Contest Robot so they can pursue that - anyone got one?

I will have a look that what I’ve done in the past, remind myself of the Recipe format and product recipes for the V/UHF contests.
However, I can’t do that within a couple of days, so that wont help for anyone who needs to submit a log within the next week.
I’ll get on with though.

Incorrect mode mapping?

According to the Cabrillo QSO Data Specification, the mode in the Cabrillo file is only supposed to be one of {CW,PH,FM,RY,DG). I'm usually a CW-only operator, but for Field Day this year, I dabbled in FT4 and FT8 because band conditions were poor at my QTH.?

I noticed that CabConverter doesn't appear to be mapping the modes from ADIF format properly.? In particular, FT8 is being passed through as mode FT8, and FT4 is appearing as MFSK (the ADIF specification says FT4 is mode MFSK, submode FT4).?

Looking at?CabrilloQSO.java?in CabConverter, it looks like the program consolidates a couple of ADIF modes to the correct values but passes through everything else directly from the ADIF mode attributes.? ?This seems broken.? Both FT4 and FT8 contacts should appear as mode DG in the Cabrillo file. This is what wsjtx does when generating its Cabrillo output.? Am I missing something here?? I've seen others in this group remark that they had to edit the Cabrillo file to manually make this change.

Thanks,
? ?Don KK4E

Re: IARU HF World Championship recipe refreshed

Hi Scott and CadConverter Group

I need help/suggestions for submitting my IARU Contact Log to the contest. ?I did not find the MacLogger set-up instructions or the CabConverter recipe prior to the contest. ?The ADIF file I exported to QRZ is probably not suitable for CabConverter without some editing.

I attach screen shots of the Log file ?and the ADIF file that MacLogger produced. ?Any suggestions of how I can edit the ADIF file to be suitable for CabConverter for the IARU contest? ?I’m a relatively new ham, and this is the first AIRU contest I have participated in.

Thanks for any help/suggestions.
