Re: Btech UV-25x2

The "Radio identification failed." error is usually present when a new model ID starts shipping and it is unknown to CHIRP. The unknown model ID, which should be identified in the debug.log file, would have to be added to CHIRP. Although this is possible, it is unlikely because Baofeng Tech (the radio dealer in the USA) is very good about providing CHIRP this information before the radios with new model IDs are offered for sale.

One thing that I have seen done by new owners of the GEN2 models that have replaced the original UV-25X2, UV-25X4 and UV-50X2 models? are mistakenly choosing the model for the replaced models (UV-25X2/UV-25X4/UV-50X2) instead of choosing the '_G2' model selection specifically for the new models (which should have the words 'SECOND GEN' below the model number on the radio's badge). This would cause the same "Radio identification failed." error because the radio IDs returned by the new models are not accepted when choosing to read from previous version.

So without seeing the debug.log, my guess is that you have a 'SECOND GEN' model and aren't choosing the 'UV-25X2_G2' model selection. However, if I am wrong and the first paragraph above applies, then you need to open a ticket and include the debug.log file so the radio ID can be identified and added to CHIRP.
