I use an aluminum dew shield plus a heater for the corrector for my C14HD, observatory mounted.? ? Without these I would freeze up in less than 1 hour in central Maryland.? The shield I use is only about 13", but it has cut-outs for both top and bottom accessory rails.? I have a flexible Velcro closure shield available, better if you do not use a permanent set-up.? Send me a private email if interested.? Lou

I just posted in the photos section a typical image I take of the moon from my backyard. This was taken 2 days ago in 22f weather with frost all over tube and corrector. I do not have dew heaters and was wondering what is going on . The image looks soft without much detail. I'm not sure if the problem is the seeing conditions, mount , or camera.?? I am using an old Neximage 5 Planetary camera I have had for the past 5 years and will only record at 20 fps even at 640 x 480 res. I tried? a higher res. and the image would just freeze up so not sure what is going on with that. The laptop is a new Dell intel icore 7 with 16 GB RAM. My mount is a Losmandy G11 Gemini II Mount.
