CAR Reporting Marks
Ross Harrison
The CAR did not have its own reporting marks.
The CAR was set up as a marketing arm, not an operating subsidiary, like the StL&H, therefore it never had its own reporting marks registered in UMLER. 3 8000s were stencilled CAR, but all carried lettering stating they were a |

Commuter Actions in Cities
Jason Monk
Greetings all,
I have some questions with regards to commuter operations past and present. I know that CP operated its own commuter rail in Montreal, but did it ever do so before GO Transit started in Toronto? And what about in other cities, like Vancouver and Calgary and such? I ask because I want some background reference for the commuter operations on my layout. Thanks all Jason |
Tyvan Sub Question
Bruce Dixon
Recently someone told me that the CP Tyvan Sub between
Regina and Stoughton had been featured in an issue of National Geographic as being the longest stretch of straight track in North America. Can anyone on the list confirm this? Thanks Bruce D.B. Virus fix and sick trains

Mike Salfi wrote:
From: "Mike Salfi" <msalfi@...>I got the same thing to, i downloaded the fix and it said i did not have it, yet someone i was e mailing earlier asked what was with the code i sent them..... And 2 more trians crashed today on the chalk river sub, one 5600 ran out of water and the next eastbound got peged at the scanner at m28.5. so that brings our chalk river sub parking lot to 5 trains downed in the last 24 hours inlcuding 2 crews that hit the 12 hour limit, and the one last night who's EOT did not arm. And apparenetly there were more problems in smith's falls as well. Cheers C.Anthony |

I'm pretty sure if you just got the characters your e-mail proggie didn't convert it. And I haven't gotten it through this list (I would have, just like the other one). You should be OK, but you might want to get the Pretty Park Cleaner from this site: Run it and it will remove all traces from your machine. BTW, this %%##@!**! thing came to me off the railswest list on the onelist server. Good Luck! Ron ----- Original Message -----

Jeff Semper
I've had problems with McAffee and have now switched over to Norton Virus.
You may want to give that a try, I don't think Mcaffee are as up to date. As far as CPR content goes, well if you get a virus then so much for receiving all this interesting info on the greatest rail system in the world! Jeff Semper Mactier Sub (Burbidge) Woodbridge, On. |

B Unit M-630's?
Chris Davidson
I was just reviewing the latest issue of RAIL CANADA vol. 3 and I noticed
that there is a shot of 4570 with it's windows covered with sheet metal similar to 5767 etc, and the high nose ex-NS, 5400's. How many more units were done like this? Or was this the only Big Alco done up like this? Chris Davidson ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at |
CPR 36' Truss Rod Gondolas
Ian Garton
Hi everybody,
I'm building a pair of Juneco 36' truss rod gondolas and would like to paint and letter them for CP. Does anyone have any photos or information on how they'd be painted and lettered circa 1900? Does anyone know of any books with photos of these cars? Thanks for any help you can give, Ian |

Pretty Park ... DO NOT OPEN!
Ron Kohlin
I have been the victim of a "Trojan Horse" virus. This program was sent to me
under the name Pretty Park.exe, and it was sent out from my machine to you. Your ISP may have caught it and not passed it on to you. If so, you're lucky. If you did get it, please do not open the file attachment named "Pretty Park.exe". What it does is send a copy of itself to everyone in your address book; in my case, over 100 people. I appologise for this happening. I have the latest update to the MacAfee antivirus program, and even though I scanned this Pretty Park.exe prior to opening it, the AV program did not find the virus. It's either very new, or else MacAfee isn't as good as it should be. Once again, I am sorry to have been the source of this misery. |
Re: pretty park.exe and trains
Paul Birkholz
WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT OPEN THE PRETTY PARK.EXE!!!!
Yes, I am screaming. :-) It is the latest virus deju and will start sending itself to everyone on in your address book among other annoying things. This program will not show as an attachment to an e-mail usually. Use the find command and delete this program immediately. If you have virus checking software, use it. Sorry for the non-CPR content but if you run this little program you won't have CPR content for awhile.
