CPR FP7A 1400
W E Miller
What is the current status of CPR FP7A 1400 since the trip across Canada
with 2816? Does it see any use? Have the painting errors been corrected? -- William E. As per my previous post regarding the new Thrall coil cars being used out
of Sudbury. Instead of email attaching to private return messages, I have uploaded them to the archive section of my site. Just right-click and save them. If anyone wants more detailed shots, please let me know and I will acquire them. Wayne Mile 77 |

Caught Via 6448 and Via 6449 paired together pulling 504 from Windsor that summer, it was great seeing them take off from a standstill at Dougal Ave. Those units wanted to run away with the train, but with 78 cars trailing they just could not do it! -- _____________________________________________________________ Paul Hammond Mile 18.73 Railink Southern Ontario Hagersville Sub. stlh5649@... MORE ON AUSTRALIA NEW ZEALAND DIRECT LINES(CP SHIPS)NEW CONTAINER SERVICE TO SEATTLE
Donald Scott <[email protected]
The new Australia New Zealand Direct Line's(CP Ships)extended South
Pacific container ship service to Seattle, Washington begins July 12 on a weekly basis-transit time savings of up to four days over its competition. The port rotation will include: Seattle-Oakland-Los Angeles and Tauranga, New Zealand-Melbourne-Sydney, and Tauranga on the northbound leg. All seven(7) replacement vessels, which travel at 20 knots will be introduced to the rotation by the end of July. So far mentioned trucking connections will be to all Pacific Northwest markets, including Washington, Western Canada, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. At Seattle, ANZDL will use the American President Line's up-to-date facilities with rail connections. So far, nothing is mentioned regarding rail-carriers to be used. No doubt a good number of containers travelling by truck will be destined to CPR container train service from Coquitlam(Vancouver) to across-Canada and U.S.A destinations. Australia New Zealand Direct Line and Union Direct Line are part of CP Ship's Ocean container divisions which includes-Canada Maritime-Cast-Lykes Lines Ltd-Contship Containerlines-Americana Ships-Montreal Terminals. Does everyone remember back to 1994-95 when CP Rail was leasing VIA units? MyThey worked Montreal to Windsor mostly. At least one made a trip to Buffalo. About a year later (after all were retuned), two or three re-appeared and CP tried to use them all over, Toronto to Winnipeg etc but it only lasted a week or three and they didn't work out. ---------------------------------------------------------- Bill Miller - CPR Editor CTC Board Railroads Illustrated ---------------------------------------------------------- ICQ# 9907692 The View From Galt Station " << MOVED !! VIA leasors 1994-95
Manny Jacob
Hello,
Does everyone remember back to 1994-95 when CP Rail was leasing VIA units? My question is where people have spotted these units. I have photos as far east as Montreal and as far west as Galt. Had anyone spotted these outside of that range? Thanks in advance. Manny Jacob Kitchener, Ont. "Manny's CP Rail SD40-2 site" ... |

I was going to take my father to see 1057 but if SSR isn't running steam all the time then I'm not going to drive out to Tottenham to be disappointed. My father still talks about the last time when he came out to visit and we took the kids to see 136. I was thinking it would be a great day trip because my father really liked working on D-10's and he'd get a huge kick out of seeing one run after all these years. IMO, if SSR isn't running steam they're toast because that's the only reason anybody would come out. I know for a fact I won't be coming out this summer if there's no steam running. Running the 1057 for all or a substantialI know the purists won't like this (admittedly I'm one), but if this is the case I wonder if there should be some consideration to converting 1057 to an oil burner. Running a diesel every weekend I'm sure will see their ridership drop off substantially. Does anyone know how long it will be before 136 is ready? Rob |
