Batteries on ZbitX
8
Has anyone used the batteries like on the SbitX that use the XT60 connection. Yes I know its different but they do have adapters or I can make one to change from XT60 to 5.5/2.1. I know the ones I looked at are 7.4V and around 5000ma. Thank you Jim KE0VVu

Zbitx at 12vdc
11
I would like to run my zbitx at 12vdc and up to 14vdc. I already swapped the linear regulator and the finals and re biased. It works great up to about 10vdc over that the receiver starts to attenuate. I am assuming this is because of the switching design for the bpf. I remember Farhan mentioning that there were components that could be swapped to allow for running up at 12vdc. Is it possible to get a rough list as to what these components are? Ryan KK6DZB

QSSTV on Zbitx
15
Has anyone had success using the QSSTV program which is installed on the Zbitx? I tried many options available for the Sound but none worked. I cannot see any action on the rx waterfall, even when I see it on another rig. Thanks Joe VE1BWV

zBitx - Loud Audio on FT8 Transmit
2
#ft8
#zbitx
I have the same issue. It appears it's a timing issue. In that, the RX audio is not fully muted before the tx is activated and we get a partial audio feedback. I am assuming your not referring to the actual tx audio, as that is controlled in the SET button. Joe VE1BWV

zBitx Buster upgrade error
3
I tried to upgrade the original Buster 32-bit distribution using sudo apt upgrade. After rebooting I get the error message: sbitx: simple.c:649: snd_mixer_selem_has_capture_switch: Assertion 'elem' failed Is the original distribution image available on the web to reprogram the SD card? Can the zBitx software be compiled for a standard Raspberry OS distribution? Thanks, Jim N7IHQ

Fixed: cw latency and wsjtx/flidigi sidetone
55
I have a minor update to make zbitx work with wsjtx/fldigi/etc and fixed cw latency. You have to update just the raspberry zero. From a terminal window, type this: cd ~/sbitx ./update sbitx this should do it

No output power SOLVED

zBitx's no power issue fixed. Thanks to HF Signal's support, a problem with the SD card contents was detected. Just reflashing it was enough to bring the zBitx back to life. Thanks everyone! Raul EA3HLF

Where are they at with the order numbers on shipping the ZbitX's. I might need to be out of town and need to make allowances to have someone get my package for me. Thank you Jim KE0VVU

Is there an option on Amazon for a handheld mic for the zbitx? Or perhaps another online retail outlet?

zBitx disassembling guide?

For sBitx v3 there is a nice disassembling guide: http://www.sbitx.net/index.php/2025/01/24/disassembling-the-v3/ Is there a similar documentation for zBitx? 73, Wojtek SP5DAA

ubitx will not transmit.
7
Folks, I bought the radio kit, built it and I don't believe I was ever able to transmit. I have another radio and I can receive on the ubitx but nothing I do makes a transmission. I bought a crummy baofung microphone and cut off the speaker connector. From what I could tell the 3.5 connector is supposed to be wired correctly for the ubitx. When I plug the mic in the red light on the mic is on. When I push to talk the red light goes out and the TX lights up onthe display. However, I do not hear anything on my other radio. Is there something simple I am missing. It has been ages since I looked at this thing and now I am somewhat regretting it again. It has been nothing but a headache. But I thought I would give it a try again. Thanks for any help you might be able to provide. Andrew

Has anybody managed to integrate the modified gdyulfdin/ft8_lib with sBit or zBitx firmware?
2
The modified ft8_lib available at https://github.com/gdyuldin/ft8_lib , and it offers a better handling of nonstandard callsigns . However, I wasn't able to simply use it as a replacement of the original ft8_lib sources in the sBitx or zBitx firmwares. It looks like certain non-trivial integration work is needed. Unfortunately, I won't be able to take a look at that before the half of July. Has somebody else succeeded to replace the original ft8_lib in [s/z]Bitx with that improved version? 73, Wojtek SP5DAA

QSSTV on ZbitX
2
I am not able to obtain a 'rig control (TX) when setting up QSSTV on the ZbitX (following the released user-guide). I am able to receive signals, just not able to TX. The ZbitX is unable to communicate to the QSSTV app (or vice versa) re: PTT/TX. Any ideas? I have tried 'many' different radios / rig control combinations, but nothing works. (I do have WSJTX running, and of course, FT8). BTW, a small, finned heat-sink plus a small fan seems to have solved any heat issues. Don in Austin N5CID

No output power
16
Hi all I've just received my Zbitx and plugged in for the first time, all seems to be working, I'm only using ssb, but when I touch the transmit it shows the screen but NO output shows and the swr remains at 0, so I don't think anything is getting out. I'm using an EFHW that the swr on my main rig shows about 1.2 - 1.5 . Do I have to set the internal mic on somewhere? I don't have an external mic yet so I'm using the internal one. Can anyone help please Martin G7UGB

Web Interface Band Selection Buttons
4
#zbitx
Hello, At the web interface at the first row there are placed the band select buttons. Here I can see at the 10m Button under the 10M text the number 4. Funny thing is that this is only at the 10m Band button. When I added a 60m button => means one more Band Button at this row, the digit 4 disapears from 10m button and is now at the 12m button visible. Anyone else with this "digit 4" at 10m Band button? 73 Michael

Desktop microphone for sbitx
6
#sBITX_v3
#microphone
#sbitx_v2
Desktop microphone for sbitx For a long time I only used the well-functioning modes with the sbitx device. I have established more than 10 thousand connections in digital modes, while I have conducted several tests in the voice mode using a microphone. The microphone I modified uses an external AGC amplifier and has a higher gain than the microphones recommended so far. I modified the so-called 'Meeting MIC' because there is enough space in its base for this modification. According to the description, the electret microphone has a sensitivity of -40dB, the AGC amplifier has a gain of 40dB in my settings. My experiences are good, because the stations that responded say it has a clear sound. I detail the description of the modification in the attached pdf. I hope that the retrofitters will have similar experiences. A little assembly experience is required for the modification. In sbitx 64 bit v4.4, I use MIC 25, COMP 4. -- Gyula HA3HZ
