sBitx V3 touchscreen question

Hello, I have a issue with my 7inch touch screen and have been working all day on trying to get it resolved. I dont have a model number and it is basically a generic model.
I need to have the screen rotated 180 degrees and I can do that in the screen preferences of the? RPI4 OS. My problem is getting the touch screen to orientate to the screen. I read that by adding an option "TransformationMatrix" in the file (from the root directory)? /usr/share/X11/ xorg.conf.d /40-libinput.conf, under the touchscreen section,? I should be able to correct for the screen flip and make the touch work correctly. However, when I add the option and rotate the image 180 degree,? the touch feature does not follow. I move my finger right, the cursor goes left, etc with the image inverted.
Why am I doing this, because my cables to connect the Pi4 to the monitor are too short and it would be a whole lot better to have the cables out the left side, versus the right side. Aesthetics basically.
Thanks for reading and help.

Try installing the touchscreen calibrator and see if you can adjust the touchscreen to match orientation of the screen.

sudo apt-get install xinput-calibrator
sudo xinput_calibrator

You will then need to either reboot or restart X Server

sudo systemctl restart lightdm

JJ, thanks for the help. I tried that and had the same results. The cursor goes in the opposite direction to the screen touch.

Gyula, thanks for that link. The information similar to what I had, which was older. Still no luck getting the touchscreen to follow the image rotation. For some reason,? the information contained in the 40-libinput.conf file does not seem to do anything. That file? is in the /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d folder.

At least one good thing has come out of? this project… I am learning? how to use nano and sudo and get around in? the files…. ?

My apologies for not being able to resolve the issue. I hope you find the solution and share it us when you get it going!

It's probably easier to solve the problem on the hardware side.
It was also discussed here on the forum and there is also a link above about where to buy ribbon cables of different lengths.

Hello

I had the same problem, and it turned out that?newer Pi Displays have the picture flipped intentionally?to get better viewing?angle etc.

To get it working?you need to add a row to /boot/config.txt

lcd_rotate=2

to rotate the display and touch by 180 degrees.

JJ and Gyula,? No problem with the orientation of? the display as it is. It would? be much better if it was rotated due to the cable length.

This display does not use a ribbon cable but a short HDMI cable and a USB cable for power.

I watched a few videos on how? to rotate the screen and touch function on Utube but that information was conflicting. So before I screw up anything, I will stop for now.

Thank you both for the assistance.

Barry,
Yes, I noticed that on the forum the questioner asks something that is answered by several people.
In the end, it turns out that we didn't associate it with good things, because the interviewer uses it in a completely different context.
So they say that the person who knows the answer can ask well.

Perseverance, you will surely find the right solution.
