Sbitx pi not maintaining time when powered off

My sbitx pi is not maintaining time when powered off and not connected to the internet but utc is correct.

Please advise?
 

Did you put a coin cell in the holder? It doesn't come with the radio because of shipping restrictions; you have to buy it locally. (If you upgraded a DE you also have to install the RTC module.)

Is the utc showing correctly on the sbitx software? That is how the sbitx works. It doesnt set or reset the opersting system time.

My V2 does displays proper UTC time when running sbitx but the pi os never updates the os time when
not running sbitx software.

When connected the net the OS time updates itself. When disconnected from the net

then only sBitx keeps it clock updated. That should be OK!

The RTC in the Sbitx design is not connected to the system I2C bus.? It is connected through a software program that runs as part of the sbitx program.? That means the Raspberry Pi OS clock is not updated unless the sbitx program runs.? The operation that you describe is normal.

That is why I have to manually set date and time before I can use update.
