blank panel for EF01 enclosure .stl #3d_printing

I just uploaded to the files area an .stl for a blank panel for the banggood EF01 plastic enclosure.? I printed a test one in PLA with 100% fill and it fits and functions quite well.? I left the thinner outer edge the same as the original.? I am tempted to make it a little thicker for a tighter fit but I don't know how much slop it needs to fit every case.?

If you don't already know how to modify this to fit your needs I just use .? It is not as fancy as a real drafting program but if you work through their tutorials you can be proficient with it in about an hour.? Less if you take to this kind of thing, more if you don't.

I would pay for a front panel with cutouts for the stock ?B.

I mean for the EF01.

Doug,
I'm doing something similar, but without an original in front of me (it's still in transit). I would like to print mine, but of course I want it to fit when the case gets here. It looks like you have used a thickness of 1.45 mm for the outer layer, and 2.90 mm for the inner layer. Please confirm if those are the thicknesses of the original panel. Thanks,

Jake

I found the following on mine:

Outer 1.35

Inner 2.25

Groove on shell 2.45

I don't have the original in front of me but my design is as follows

outer layer is 193mm x 63mm x 1.5mm
inner layer is 183mm x 53mm x 3mm
both have a .33 radius on the corners

On the panel it comes with that's more like 3 or 4.

I posted a picture with the dimensions and a 3d picture on the next message.? You should be able to read the dimensions from the drawing?? Make them about 1/8" thick with the rear 1/16" cut back an 1/8" to make it slide into the slot.? Put 1/4" radius on 4 corners.

I printed both front an rear panels on Blue tape with ABS.? They have a fairly nice flat (matted) black look.? They fit nicely.

I suppose it makes it easier to align everything and sometimes rounded corners adhere to the print bed better than square but other than those reasons I see no functional purpose for the radii.? You don't even see them when the enclosure is fully assembled.? Besides, where's the sport in making a carbon copy of the original!? If I am missing a functional reason for a more rounded corner please do share.? It wouldn't be a big deal to change it.

Two clarifications to my last message
My comment about the radii was in response to Arvo, not a criticism of Mike's design.? If fact, Mike posted while I was still typing.? His aversion to the metric system aside, Mike's design chops far exceed what I cobbled together.
I am measuring with cheap tools and designing with a free CAD program.? This works for me.? I don't think I would recommend a $3 harbor freight caliper and tinkercad for mission critical or life support designs.

And my reporting of the radius on my sample was not an endorsement of such radii design decisions.

The groove is around 2 deep.? I didn't try to measure the radius in the corresponding corners of the groove.

Mike, did you print a front panel?

I printed a front panel.? But I used a huge 4x20 I2C LCD, now not much room for controls.

I have Volume/SW and Rotary, have not put the jacks in yet.

I could make an STL of a Blank panel if it would be of use to anyone?

Or maybe put the 16x2 LCD centered?

I have a Hictop 3D printer from a kit.? I had to turn the part lengthwise.

It keeps the heat more even in the center of the build?

I have the heated plate turned all the way (200) and the extruder to about 125 for ABS.

The edges of long thin parts curl up.? I found turning up the bed helped this?

I have not tried PLA?? To much trouble to change.? I had problems with PLA melting on a hot day when in the car!

Lots of printers may not quite have the room?

Posting the STL's would be very helpful. Much easier to modify a design then to start from scratch for more complex shapes like this.
