Re: Zbitx 5v USB Question
No. USB won't have enough power to run the PA. You can power the CPU(Raspberry PiZ ) but you won't be able to TX.? On Fri, Mar 28, 2025 at 12:40?PM Leo Aniol, AI5II via <leomaniolone=[email protected]> wrote:

I saw someone mention that the two terminals on the battery were not connected. To chain the 2 batteries together. Maybe it was a step that was skipped in manufacturing.? On Fri, Mar 28, 2025 at 11:10?AM Astro-Nights with Mike Christiansen via <starmke1998=[email protected]> wrote:

The connector will not help if the radio wont power on. ?I tested the batteries and the connector and they have power, but when I plug it into the radio it will not power on. ?It is DOA

Re: zBitx upgrading the firmware.
Either works. But the old and new dont interoperate. So, I would recommend doing the Pi first On Fri, Mar 28, 2025, 7:41 PM Robert Fairbairn via <bobfa=[email protected]> wrote:

Oh heck. You would have received a usb adapter to connect to regular usb devices. But you will need a mini hdmi to connect to a monitor. On Fri, Mar 28, 2025, 7:03 PM Astro-Nights with Mike Christiansen via <starmke1998=[email protected]> wrote:

When you plug into the “CAT” port you are actually plugging into the microcontroller that runs the display stuff. ?The ports to the left are three ports to the Raspberry Pi main computer. ?I assume that you checked voltage and orientation on the batteries before connecting the radio. ?The DC power system on this radio may be a weak spot for operator error. ?

It is probably a bug. I will look into it. Can you file a bug on On Fri, Mar 28, 2025, 7:25 PM Gordon Gibby KX4Z via <docvacuumtubes=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: zBITX CW Keyer
Might have to check to see if they have implemented the faster polling that solved the problem for the sBitx.? ?And of course, there is always the possibility of an error somewhere?in code or hardware....but the sBitx works really nicely in "normal" iambic (for me anyway). I had a similar thing with the radio hung up after about 30 minutes of operation.? That was with FW 1.02.
After updating to 1.0.4 in RPI and frontpanel all runs nicely.? --

Re: Zbitx external microphone recommendations
Interesting point, and probably relates to why there is a momentary transmit activation of the radio when plugging in a microphone. Gordon KX4Z On Fri, Mar 28, 2025 at 7:32?AM Tilman, SM0JZT via <sm0jzt=[email protected]> wrote:

zBITX CW Keyer
Hello Ashhar
?
I've received my zBITX this morning and have been listening on the bands in different modes. So far all seems to work as expected and it is fun to use this little rig.
But I'm lost by trying to send CW with the built in keyer. I'm not used to Lambic A after using Lambic B for 40+ years. When set to Lambic B you get a straight key. Is Lambic B not yet implemented or have I set something wrong? If not, will this be included in a firmware update?
Taking an additional external electronic with Lambic B keying half the size of the zBITX for portable use was not my plan...
?
Many thanks for this otherwise nice rig and for any info

Re: Zbitx external microphone recommendations
Hi there
I find it odd that the pinout of the microphone is different from all other radios having 3.5mm stereo connector.? They "all" do have PTT to tip and ground and microphone to ring and ground. Means that I would need a adaptor to connect up my microphones? :-( --
