Re: smoking board
Hi Jerry
I was asking for help, because I am confused about these connections.
If you want to make comments such as this
'My guess is that you don't teach EE. ;-)'
you can go and fuck yourself

Re: smoking board
WireUp could be a bit confusing, never quite says how to wire up power.
The top diagram shows three places where 12v and GND must go: ?the main Bitx40 power, the PA power, and to the Raduino. ?Tie

Hi Simon
where do you see differences in wiring up an circuit diagram?

Re: smoking board
Hi. Could you clarify this? On the wire up diagram, the Raduino is clearly labelled as getting 12 volts and a ground connection. I am guessing that 12 volts can be connected back to the 12 volt power

Re: smoking board
I let smoke out of the display board on my BitX by sending 12 volt power to the WRONG orange wire. Very important to NOT put 12 volts on one of the pins of the processor chip, it goes POOF!

Re: How LOW can PA voltage go?
I would try to lower the drive using R136 not lower the voltage.

Re: smoking board
It looks like you had a short between +12 and GND.
A fuse will help with fire, but it will not protect the electronics.
If you have a stable 5V at the output and can adjust the frequency you have a

How LOW can PA voltage go?
Talk about the boosted voltage for higher output included a mention of turning down the output by reducing voltage to PA.
Anyone have a figure on how low the voltage can be?
And does the

Re: smoking board
I think there may have been a short inside the circuit board or something, i moved the chip to the backside and glued it on, then ran wires to different points on the board and it seems to work

Re: smoking board
Can you post a picture indicating where the smoke comes out and which trace has been blown?
That part is a voltage regulator that includes current limitation, so I do not think you have a short on

Re: Handheld Mic w/ PTT for BITX40
My mic also uses a common ground. I checked the grounds from mic, ptt and speaker on the bitx, they all seem to be the same at least at dc. Schematic seems to show the same.
I connected the ground

Re: 2 12 volt batteries in series?
Great idea makes everything automatic, just supply the voltage you want for the final. Also if you use the step up/down modules seems like you could lower the voltage to get low power out for

Re: CAT Port For BITX40
The mcHF SDR kits sold by Chris in the UK (M0NKA) use the STM32, and are CAT enabled using the same command set as the Yaesu FT-817.

Lacking a Radio Shack style of store makes the "see, touch and feel" part of your purchase difficult, unless you have one that is still open near you. We have a nice electronics place here in MA. If
