Re: smoking board

I think there may have been a short inside the circuit board or something, i moved the chip to the backside and glued it on, then ran wires to different points on the board and it seems to work without smoke for the 2 or 3 mintues i tested it with. Originally i used a few 18650's in a printed box, for the more recent tests ive used a 12v 1.5amp max wall wart. Originally when it was smoking it was on the battery, i cleaned the chip off soldered it back on with one jumper and used the wall wart, still smoking so i moved to back of board with jumpers, doesnt seem to smoke now with wall wart. RFSigs wants 25$ for a new raduino would you think this repair is ok? Pics attached with before and after, burnt areas are where it was sparking and smoking from.

I could measure the current drawn if it smokes again, looks like its time for a fuse on all the power leads, how should i have the power hooked up, should everything come off one lead from the volume knob switch and just fuse the power going to that?
