Re: Bitx40 - receiver works great, but do not transmit #bitx40help

M Garza

Ivan,
You are correct.? Q 13 seems fine.? Since you tested the PA, we need to work backwards in the circuit.? Looking at the schematic, Q4 is next, when transmitting.? Check the voltages on Q4.? If fine, check Q5, then Q6.? I think this covers the TX chain.
Look at the chart and test the transistors that have voltages during transmit.? You should find one, not correct and that will be where your problem lies.

Good luck,
Marco - KG5PRT?

Remeasured voltages are:
Q13: collector 13.34 v, base 4.21 v, emmitter 3.57 v
As i see they are practically the same as in voltage chart.

Raduino for Sale

I noticed that several people have posted the need for a Raduino board.? I have a Raduino board, marked 944/10 in ink, with 8 pin cable for sale.? I am not using the board as I am making my own custom implementation for my uBITX.? The cost is $30.00, including USPS Priority Mail, to US mainland, Alaska,? Hawaii, Puerto Rico or U.S. Virgin Islands addresses ONLY.? I will accept only cash or PAYPAL for payment.

I don't have an actual radio to test against. I am hoping my ubitx will ship in the next few days.?

In measuring the agc board itself, using a 1K resistor as a load, a 100mvPP input results in an 18mvPP output across the 1K resistor. Since I don't know the load resistance of the volume pot and the final AF amp I just picked 1Kohm as a representative value. If this is true the volume will have to be turned up significantly in order to get the same speaker output. The AGC board seems to provide a gain of 5 (18mv to 90mv) while the gain of the input is about 12 (100mvPP to 1200mvPP) so it does seem to provide significant gain compression as the output of the AF preamp goes up.?

I look forward to actually measuring the AGC boards functionality when I get my ubitx put together.?

Re: What firmware do you suggest for uBitx???

I think it's always a good idea to get the rig working with the "standard" software. Then look at a single mod you'd like to make. Making two or more mods at once complicates things if they don't work when you're done. Doing one at a time makes it easier to "undo" the mod and see what went wrong.

Looks like L3, and possibly other series elements in the 40 m filter got way too much voltage. You’ll probably have to use an ohmmeter to test out each connection and see what has become non-conductive. ?I suspect Q 13 got fried in the process, and there are two other transistors that would’ve been connected that might’ve been damaged as well from the schematic. ?With some care, these can be replaced by ordinary 2N3904 transistors.

Thank you for showing that picture, it is quite impressive.

Re: Second batch of uBITX shipping? #ubitx

Hello

Apparently there are huge differences between shipping and delivery for different
methods (India Post versus DHL) and various delays in customs for various countries.
Also, local delivery in the destination country seems to vary significantly.? This makes
it less useful to post the actual shipping date for inside India.

It is not known at this time if popularity of the uBITX and BITX-40 will cause further
backlog in subsequent manufacturing and shipping.? If you can stand the possible
delay it might be best to get your order in early to position it as early as possible in
the delivery process.
