uBitx Wireless Memory Management #ubitx

?

I¡¯m thinking of replacing the Radino Arduino with the EPS-32S chip (WiFi and Bluetooth) for memory and memory group creation, editing and recall. The control rf is passed through seams in your uBitx chassis (if you haven¡¯t put copper tape everywhere!).?

?

I¡¯ve never used this chip and I wonder about:

Power consumption, Arduino IDE and code compatibility, rf hash. Or any horror stories.

?

Here is a video of my implementation (using another chip) on a Ten-Tec QRP rig. Vid is only 55 seconds and NO TALKING.

Hmmm. Voice control with google voice assistant?

?

Bob wm6h?

?

Chip should be about $8 China $11 US

Banggood has the case shown in post 35500 for $10:

I have two of them and they are worth the money.

Google "clear printable sticker paper."

Re: It's alive!

That looks good. What do you plan for the open space (or was that done for front-panel control space)? I¡¯m considering building a linear power supply or perhaps a LiIon pack into the box.

uBITX AGC

Rod Self

Hi All,

I have a uBITX on order. I want to install AGC. In anticipation, I modeled Farhan's suggested AGC circuit from 13/11/16.

However, in the model it appears the gate voltage to the FET never gets near the 2 volt level that would turn the 2n7002 on.

Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,

Rod KM6SN

160m on ubitx??

Only another lpf and code changes required? Is there a spare uc pin to control some relays?

Are there other considerations?

Yes. I would also like to know how you put the lettering on the plastic panel Michael Babineau .

The 40m BITX had a case that could be 3D printed. ?I haven¡¯t seen the specs of the uBITX compared to the 40m version though. ?

Re: Bitx20 L4

I am building the BITX20 with the kit from Sunil.? I glued two T37-6 cores together and wound 40 turns.? The inductance measures 10.06 uH.? What should be the correct inductance for the VFO?? (The circuit diagram does not say.)

Re: BITX20 Ver3C SBL 1SV149 Orientation #bitx20help

Thanks Sarma for kindly publishing the datasheet.? However, I had already looked it up and my problem was in my interpretation of it.? I can follow vacuum tube and IC diagrams (I know which way round the pins go in sequence) however, the two pin varicap diagram got me stumped.? I solved the problem by unsoldering the varicap from the board and testing it with a DVM.? The orientation which conducted led me to believe that the pin attached to the red DVM probe was the anode which should go to the ground plane.? When I popped it back on the board with this orientation, the bevelled edge now faces the 15 pF trimmer, as per the older photo of the board containing the MV209. Thanks again for your help - I really appreciate your time and effort.

Re: uBITX Case BNC vote

I would say whatever is smallest, sma? - if you're inclung that as an option coz you can always make the hole bigger. But some merit to a proper bnc hole which is supposed to be noncircular. ?Aluminium for the weight savings as portability is preferred and easier to work.

Awesome! Thats pretty quick delivery. Looking forward to mine arriving soon as Ive got some holidays coming up and time to spend putting it together. Hoping to take it portable to activate ?few parks.

Re: uBITX power supply

Hi,

I am doing the same on ubitx

backing off the RV1 preset , to drive 5 watts into external Linear amp

?

Farhan can I have Drive pot mounted suitably on the rear panel, as it would make it easier to adjust drive on different bands

?

thanks 73

You can always turn down the preset on the predriver stage to let the rig coast under 2 amps, or... remember to speak softly into the mic.

Any suggestions for a power supply for the uBITX?? I am using an old laptop supply for my BITX40 but it is only rated at 2.5 amps and it looks like Ashhar's latest masterpiece needs 3a.? I've been through my junk cache in my office and basement without luck.? I still have to rummage through my stashes in the garage and the barn but I might actually have to break down and buy something.? Of course buying a replacement for something I think I have is usually the easiest way to find it.

Re: Small question about LCD mounting

Excellent job on that front panel Michael. My friend has the same enclosure. Two questions - 1) - how did you get the lettering on the panel, and, 2) - can the lettering be in white? My bitx40 box is clear and smoked plexiglass.
Thanks Tom VE3THR?

Re: It's alive!

My uBITX is progressing a little slower than some others.? After much contemplation
I decided to do the chassis thing in two stages.? First chassis will be temporary and
serve for initial testing and as a template for a yet-to-be-built aluminium box.

For the temporary chassis I cut some plastic sheet and used hot-melt glue to fabricate
a box.? It is necessary to measure carefully in order to have the LCD protrude from the
front panel and the heat sinks against the back panel.

?
This image shows the front panel with components mounted but not yet wired.? Labels
have not yet been applied.? The upper left LED is a RED unit and will show relative
antenna current.? The lower left LED is bi-color (Red and Green) and will be show
transmit and receive mode.? The upper right LED is green and will show when power
is on.?

Other images are attached to this email.? Hopefully they will be viewable by all.

The rotary encoder that came with my uBITX does not have mechanical detents.? It is free-running.

Rotary encoders that I got earlier from Ebay vendors look the same but they do have mechanical
detents.? Some have one detent stop per 2 steps and others have one detent per 1 step.? The
2-step types require a slight software modification to make them work best for tuning applications.

It's a mess, but I have my ?BITX working now. I wanted to get it working before I put it in a case which is why there's wires all over the place as I trimmed none yet. That will happen when I move it to a case, which will likely be the plastic case from Banggood. I just finished wiring it, so I haven't had a chance to really use it, but just tuning across the band it seems very sensitive. I'm using headphones so there's plenty of volume. The encoder appears to be optical (?) as there is

feel of detents when tuning. To all those who are waiting, it will be worth it!!
